  1. 1. Like Gun Runner's Arsenal?

Recommended Posts

Hey,

I have a small problem with Gun Runner's Arsenal. I can use all of the GRA weapons (At least the ones I spawned to test it, no info if I can but them or not), however any gun in the game will not use the custom ammo. Take, for example, the Service Rifle (Fully Modded), I can load normal, HP, AP, Sur., and .223 rounds, but I skip right over the new Match Rounds. Even if I go into my inventory and see all the ammo types I can use, but the Match Rounds are greyed out, not even with the 5.56 Pistol (GRA), it still refuses to let my load my Match Rounds. I checked in the GECK, and the GRA Ammo is in the AmmoList, but it still won't let me use it the game!

Help is appreciated, and Kudos will be rewarded to those who help me.

<facepalm>

You guys just made my day.

All GRA content works as intended. I could post screenshot of firing Tiny Tots from Esther for example.

Recreate your merged/bashed patches and you'll be fine.

Explanation of your 'phenomena':

Every weapon that is not tied to one type of ammo uses formlist containing all ammo types for given ammo family. Let's say that your 10mm pistol can use 5 types of ammo. But some day you decide that is not enough and add a file containing some weapon mods and a 6th type of ammo. What happens now is the '5-ammo-types-list' is superceded by modified '6-ammo-types-list' from the mod file. Everything is all right until you get an official plugin containing 2 extra types of ammo (let's name it 7-ammo-types-list). And the game loads it's resources as follows: first goes the original (5-types) list, than goes the plugin's '7-ammo-types-list', and the last but not least goes modded '6-ammo-types-list'. The last one loaded is the one you use in game.

So, to make long story short, this is not a bug and anything works as intended. Nobody will correct this because this glitch is a result of you not updating your merged patches. You are not using merged patches? So you are probably missing a good deal of content from mods on your loadlists.

If you post load order, put in your post as spoiler or plain text. People generally do not like to download files with unknown content.

What causes your problem?

Download and install FNVEdit.

Run it with your current loadlist.

Wait until it finishes loading, find "[+] [number] GunRunnersArsenal.esm" in the left panel.

Click the [+].

Navigate to "[+] FormID List" and click it. There should be various ammo lists in this section.

Click any of the Ammolist entries, for example 'AmmoList20Ga'

Now click 'View' on the bottom of the right panel.

What you now see is a set of columns.

The leftmost is named FalloutNV.esm and it contains 20 ga ammo types encountered in vanilla game.

Of course number of the columns varies acording to your loadlist.

One of those columns is named 'GunRunnersArsenal.esm'.

As you may see, it contains more entries than the 'FalloutNV.esm' column.

Namely, three more.

This is the ammo added bt GRA which you should be able to use.

Now look if there are more columns to the right of the GRA one.

If there is even one, you would be able to use ONLY the ammo listed in the rightmost column.

Of course, some of the columns to the right may contain new types of ammo, not listed in GRA and vanilla game.

So to cure your strange affiliction just right-click the top of the GRA column (the gray field with GunRunnersArsenal.esm written on it), choose "Copy as override...", and choose <new file> from the bottom of the list.

Smaller window will pop up, so just type in the name of new file you want to save your ammo list fix in.

Than click a next ammolist from [+]GunRunnersArsenal.esm entry in the right panel.

It should be "AmmoList12Ga".

Repeat all steps, but this time when choosing "Copy as override..." choose your newly created plugin from the bottom of the list instead of creating a new file.

When you wade through all 14 GRA's ammolists just attempt to close FNVEdit.

A new window will pop up with a list of files to save.

-->IMPORTANT: If there is any file on the list BESIDES your newly created ammo list fix file, UNTICK IT ON THE LIST. <-- Only your ammo list fix file should be modified.

Click OK.

Add the new file as the last on your loadlist.

Enjoy.

How come it didn't help?

Was it placed as last in the load order?

If somehow your file does not work despite placing it last you should download and install Wrye Bash here from nexus, set it up and run it.

When large window appears, simply drag your file all the way down. Than mark all files on the list by pressing ctrl+a , right click and choose file...->redate from context menu. A small window will pop up with date and time, just OK it.

It will ensure that your file is really loaded last (FOMM can really mess it up, because plugin's datestamp is one of the fators determining the load order).
