Download problem with premium servers

The last few weeks I have been getting some strange download problems from your premium servers, I get this from both the US one and the UK one. I also get the problem with the regular UK server, I have done everything short of changing my hardware to solve this problem. So I just want to as if this is a problem on the servers or some hardware problem on my computer, maybe a software conflict or something?

anyways, my problem is as follows:

I start downloading any file from the nexus on one of the mentioned servers and for some reason it stops downloading sometimes half way through and sometimes only seconds after I started the download. Since I use Opera to download I am able to click the stop button and then the resume button so that it continues, however the error occurs several times before my download is complete. When using any other way of downloading the files I get the same error except then there is no way of actually completing it. I have reformatted my computer and tried running with a bare minimum of programs on my computer to see if that solved the problem however I have yet to find an answer to the problem.

Do you know any solution to this problem?

Thank you for your attention in this matter

PS: I have no problem using your regular servers, however I would like to be able to use the premium ones seeing as I did sign up for lifetime premium.

This is not a 'known' problem and we haven't had other complaints (that I know of) of this exact glitch. It's also difficult to give help if we cannot duplicate the problem. So about all I can do is throw out some generic advice on troubleshooting. It's pretty long so I put it in a spoiler.

The new site has been tested with all of the popular browsers. It works.

We cannot fix your computer for you. However, we can give advice on what may the problem.

We no longer support IE7. It is obsolete. If you have a newer version of IE and are using compatibility mode - you are effectively using IE7.

Some security programs - firewalls, antivirus, antispyware, pop up blockers etc can block the sites from working properly.

What we need to give advice What Operating System? WinXP, Vista, Win7. (we don't have any info on Win8 yet) What browser? and what version? IE, Firefox, Chrome, Opera etc. What security add ons to your browser? Ad blockers, pop up blockers etc.

More info You could try a portable version of the browser - It doesn't need to be installed at all. and can work from a USB stick. If it works with the portable version, and not your installed version of the same browser then the problem is likely some add on or setting on your end. While we cannot fix your end, we can give some advice as to what you can do to fix it. To give advice, we need as much information on your browser and settings as you can give us.

To find the portable version of your preferred browser, (If it is not shown ) google it. Here is a site that has several: http://www.portablefreeware.com/?sc=8

NOTE: IE7 is NOT supported, and will not be in the future as it is obsolete.

Here are LHammonds test results for the New Nexus sites using a variety of portable browsers

Quote Firefox is the Nexus-recommended browser (so says me). I initially could not get content loaded when going tab to tab such as the Files tab, images tab, etc. but I realized NoScript was blocking it so once I allowed all scripts to run, it worked fine after that.

Dark0ne tries to make the site work well with Firefox and Internet Explorer...anything beyond that is just icing on the cake.

I have tested the following browsers:

Firefox Portable 6.0 http://portableapps....irefox_portable

Google Chrome Portable 13.0.782.112 http://portableapps....chrome_portable

Iron Portable 13.0.800 (based on Google Chromium) http://portableapps....t/iron_portable

Opera Portable 11.50 http://portableapps..../opera_portable

Maxthon Portable 3.1.5.1000 http://portableapps....axthon_portable

Internet Explorer 9.0.8112.16421

NOTE: The above "portable" browsers can be used by anyone. They do not require "installation" so there is zero impact on your computer...simply extract them, run the program to test it out, then delete once done. All tests were performed with the software as configured straight "out-of-the-box" without any tweaks or changes.

Check List Tests:

Can login and remain logged in from page to page (while browsing and downloading)

Can see mod page description, files, comments and images. Can download mods over 2MB in size. Can create mod page (modder action)

Can set and remove search tags.

Can upload files to mod page (modder action).

Can upload images to mod page.

Can add comments on mod page.

Can upload images to imageshare (modder action).

Can add comments on imageshare.

Test results / notes for Google Chrome: Success

Test results / notes for Firefox - Success

Test results / notes for Opera Success

Test results / notes for Maxthon Success

Test results / notes for Iron Success

Test results / notes for Internet Explorer 9.0.8112.16421 Success

Based on the above test results, all major site functions I have tested have been addressed and fixed by Dark0ne. LHammonds (aka Conan_Lon)

some details I may have forgotten to add:

My operating system is a clean install of Windows 7 Pro 64bit, it was installed only a few days ago and I have barely installed any programs yet.

I have tried countless browsers (Firefox, Opera, Chrome, Internet Explorer, Safari, and countless others. ) and the error occur in each one of them. I just tried some portable versions of the same browsers, and the same thing happened in them to. Is there any difference between the premium servers and the regular ones, seeing as the regular ones work fine? I am however thinking there might be a faulty driver for my networks card, or a faulty networks card for that matter. I know that might give me some stability issues with Internet.

Thank you for your fast response, and I will try getting the problem fixed on my end.

This could be a problem with your router/isp and the connection to these specific servers, although the fact it affects both premium servers is interesting. Do you use a download manager? Firefox + DownThemAll! plugin will mean even if the download stops for whatever reason, you can resume it again.

It just sounds to me like your connection is dropped, maybe even for a split-second, which is enough for the servers to cancel the download.

I agree, I think the problem might be with my router/isp. However it works perfectly fine with any other computer connected to the router, so either it is a problem related to the specific plug that my computer use or it is a problem with my networks card. I also set windows to ping a local website while I was trying to download, and it seems that the download problems might be related to some ping spikes I am having. What I find strange is that this problem only happens on the premium servers and none of the others (I might have choose wrong one when I thought it was happening on the regular UK server). At the moment I can download perfectly from the Dallas server without getting any problems, I don't know if you use some kind of special protocols on the premium servers that I am having problems with or something, but I will try mounting a new PCI networks card in my computer and see if the problem solves itself.

PS: I must admit my router is almost totally ruined, only two out of four plugs work on it (this might be the problem).

Network collisions occur all the time on any network. How often they occur varies depending on the quality of the person in charge of maintaining the network. Collisions can and will degrade network cables at times rather quickly. First step, try and change the cable with another known good one. Second step, try a different port in your router. Third step try a different NIC. The reason this might be happening only on the premium servers is likely because they should be offering faster downloads which means that you are getting more packets per second than on the regular servers. It is possible that your router is just being choked with packets due to it being older and worn out.

Are you able to do high speed transfers from other sites on larger files?

I have no problem downloading much bigger files (up to 20 gigabytes) with maximum speed of what my isp will give me (around 900 KB/s), so I don't exactly know what the problem is. However I will try changing ports and my network cables, hopefully that will fix it.

FYI: I am a new premium member (but old reg member) . I've been downloading quite a lot over the past few days as I am giving a last try to Oblivion before the Skyrim release. I noticed that the Denver server was much slower (35-42k/sec) than any other available server, even the non premium member servers although it had the lowest number of users. Not complaining, just FYI (the Kent server works well): I can more than appreciate the amount of work and $$$ going into this site.

I have never had any problems before, but oddly enough, tonight I have had problems with both of the UK Premium Servers. I was getting a horrendously slow download speed from them, like it was going to take a couple of hours to d/l a 46Mb file. Switched to the Dallas server and got it in about a minute.

Is bizarre, and can't be totally due to BT Broadband messing around as I could download from a US server. Just one of those things, pays to try other servers sometimes.
