Mafia 2

Have you played the game and did you enjoy it? In short, for me I liked how story driven the game was even though the story was kind of bland and lacked the captivation factor. I wish the game was more free-roam, allowing you to drive around and do whatever after the end without having to load a previous chapter and speaking the ending... abrupt and seemingly unfinished, though I don't have the DLC's. I would have loved be able to go in FP whilst shooting and it just drove me nuts that when I would drive in nose view so that there was nothing but the road in view, any crash or slight loss of vehicular control would put the camera behind the car. Very annoying when your in a chase from police or tailing a target. And there's a lot to be said with chapters randomly failing to load, leaving you having to do a whole previous chapter all over again or even starting the game over with no guarantee that all will work well after.

I know, I've had more complaints than good things to say about the game but really I did quite enjoy it and it was the first shooter I completed without any cheat or other aid. All in all I really have a love hate relationship with this game and I'm glad I only had to pay $30 AU instead of the usuall $100, I'll probably load up a chapter every now and then just to drive around the city every now and then but I don't really see myself replaying the whole story all over again. Personally I would love to see LA Noire come on pc, I enjoyed that quite a bit more when having a go on my cousin's xbox 360

So, what are your thoughts and experiences

The game itself was good, but the fact that it was linear was a huge disappointment.

It was begging for an open world.

Overall it was good, but nothing special.

Also, La Noire IS coming to PC:

Guess what the release date is?

11.11.11.

Skyrim is going to crush them

Oh sweet! I didn't know it was coming out for pc, my last research of the game said nothing as such quite a while ago. But yeah... with a release date 11.11.11 it can get stuffed untill my interest in Skyrim calms waaay down lol. I guess I'll be searching the bargain bins one day for this one

Mafia 2 really wasn't horrible and I did enjoy it some and I just love the period it's set in. What the game really needed is the ability to save whenever you want so when you spend hours roaming and making cash you don't need to engage with a mission to save your spoils. I can invision an rpg version of the series with choices that affect outcomes, that to me would warrant a replay. Otherwise I'm going to have to be really bored to play through again... Still a lot more fun than GTA 4 though but i'm a sucker for anything set between the 30's and 5O's

It is a great game, it's only receiving negative comments because it's not Grand Theft Auto, which is a plus in my book.

Decent storyline (though the ending is horrible), great voice acting and pretty awesome graphics. I'm glad I bought it.
