LuciusConfucius
I loved Enclave Commander from Fallout 3 and decided to use the NV version. But I dislike the way the soldiers feel so robotic. They won't follow you into stealth and they are slow to react on commands, and I dislike that you have to choose a group of them instead of one soldier at a time. What I want is basically a mix of these:http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=41977 Millenium Falconhttp://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=40281 NCR and BoS Commanderhttp://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=36909 Enclave Commanderhttp://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1410 Original Fallout 3 Enclave Commander (an exact replica of this for NV, I could kill for) I like the Millenium Falcon because the troops cost money to pull out.I like NCR and BoS Commander because of the player>soldier interaction, you can heal them tell them to stay put, guard an area e.t.c.And I love the abillity to call on a soldier while in an interior, this is very important, since soldiers tend to die in large numbers while you raid a place, and it's annoying to go outside in order to grab more. But I hate the limits.I like the enclave commander because it's limitless, and got good air support, but I hate the way they feel so "robotic". What I would love is something basically like this: -Vertibird MenuYou press a shortcut such as "H" and the menu will come up where you choose from five options.1. Call soldier, will open up a menu of different soldiers you can call out directly onto the field.2. Call vertibird, will open up a menu where you can select a maximum of 6 soldiers of any type you want. When you have picked your option a marker like the enclave marker will show up on the ground where you can specify where the vertibird will land and drop off your soldiers.3. Call airsupport, will open up a menu with different air strikes you can call on. When you have picked your option the same marker as above will show up.4. Call vertibird support, a vertibird that you can enter will land at your position, you can also have the vertibird drop a supplycrate.5. Place a move marker. All placement markers and specified drop points should work like the old Fallout 3 Enclave Commander such as this:You scroll your mouse in and out for distance, and move your mouse for direction/height, press "E" when satisfied. -Command MenuThis would be awesome if it worked a lot like the old Fallout 3 Enclave Commander command menu. With a shortcut such as "G".It should utilize options such as:1. Doubble tap G on ground to set up a move marker.2. Doubble tap G on enemy to bring up airsupport menu.(bombs will be dropped on enemy position)3. Doubble tap G on a soldier you dropped off to bring up an individual commands menu.4. Press G while aiming on your soldier, then G on an enemy to make your soldier attack that enemy. (Good for stealth missions and snipers or demolitions)5. Press G while aiming on your technician/medic soldier and then press G on a terminal/lock/door/soldier to hack/unlock/blow open/heal.6. Press G on a soldier then G on the ground to have the soldier throw a grenade there.7. Press G while not looking at anything to bring up the main Command Menu. Commands in the command menu should be something like this:1. Guard, walks around guarding the area with weapons held.2. Relax, Sandbox mode, the soldier eats/drinks/sleeps/whatever at the area.3. Move to marker. They should move to the marker with their weapons drawn, and once they reach the marker activate guard mode.4. Cleanse! Like guard, but they will run instead.5. Follow.6. Stay.7. Move to marker.8. Dismiss. Runs to nearest cell entrance/exit and enters then disappears.9. Individual soldier menu. The individual soldier menu should have all of the above commands and they should override any group commands given. The menu should also have additional commands such as:-Open inventory.-Heal Soldier.Would be nice with a sort of "Prisoner" system aswell. Main notes:-All soldiers should have drawn weapons at all times, except for when in "Relax" mode.-All soldiers should cost caps based on a fraction of their equipment and level.(this can be tweaked around for balance)-Bombs should also cost caps.-Unlimited, you should be able to call as many vertibirds filled with soldiers at once as your caps can allow, this includes bombs and calling soldiers on the field/or in a cell.-No requirements, you should not need reputation or any items. Everything the player would need, should be added in the inventory once the mod is installed.-Individual soldier commands should override main "G" menu commands.-You should be able to talk to the soldier with "E" as usuall. (Good for certain recruit mods and companion mods and for the general "feel")-Bodies should stay for a long time and you should be able to loot your troops.(since you did pay for them after all)-When dissmissing, the player will be refunded 10% of the original soldier cost.(Optional)-Prisoner system? A bit messy I know, but I really long for something like this, a REAL commanders suite with lots of options and choices. This I feel is the only thing I'm lacking in New Vegas. DesmondDentresti
I have to agree with you. while I played New Vegas I couldn't help but remember the fallout 3 Enclave Commander Mod. It gave the game a dynamic feel that you really are in a war. There are only a few things that may be more game accurate, such as having NCR rangers or Legion soldiers instead of the enclave (due to the fact that the enclave in New Vegas barely even exist any more and the NCR and Legion are the main factions). and also if I may say... if this mod where to be created, then having a feature not to different to the "Wasteland Defence" mod would be great. I am new to the whole mod thing so i dont realy know what else to say. SOOOOO...... All in all, I support this idea,
Paradox187
The Brotherhood could be used in this but you would have to basically rewrite their "endings" to expand their order. Alternatively you could "bring in" brotherhood troops from another area maybe even Circle of Steel troops.
DesmondDentresti
@ Paradox187 - I concur. But I stand by my point about using NCR or Legion troops.
