Getting a refracting object to work

Can you go step by step how you did it?

 

I got the refraction effect to work, sort of, by switching to the refraction texture used by the Knights of the Nine barriers (turns out they use a completely different texture than the refract.dds) and making sure all of the niMaterialProperty settings were the same. Although for some reason it turns out really strange the way it got UV mapped... all of the faces have their own instance of the texture and it looks like the Epcot Center at Disneyworld with refractions on lol :/.

 

I don't know why refract.dds wasn't working but NDForceRipple.dds worked (sort of)... it really makes no sense to me.

 

Now I'm trying to figure out how they did that neat emitter mesh in the nif that sits behind the refraction mesh. Got it to display as a solid color somehow but not the cool emitter effect they had.

You would't mind uploading the .nif somewhere, and perhaps the textures, so we/i can check it out?

If it is not animated, and the alpha is fine, I see no reason for it not to work.

If it is animated, then you should still see something.
