Lining up Iron Sights

Recommended Posts

How would I go about lining up the iron sights of a gun to where the bullet will actually go? Just now my sights are higher than where the bullet goes. Is it just an angle change on the mesh or is it something else?

I'll assume your sights are colinear (i.e. your rear and front post is level). If so, you can adjust the offset with the ZoomDataCameraOffsetZ property for weapon modifications.

Yea my sights are level. I'll try that out just now and get back to you.

It doesn't seem to be working for me. Am I supposed to be doing this on the sight itself or the receiver?

----------------- Things to prepare before starting --------------------------------

- when aligning multiple barrels of different sizes keep in mind the NODE that connects the Iron Sight to the barrel , make sure ALL the barrels have in the same position

OTHERWISE

- u will have to repeat the whole process again for next type of barrel

------------------ Determine how Off-Center the weapon is ----------------------

- the REAL point of impact can be determined by taking a screenshot with the weapon in aiming position

- the point of impact will always be at the center of the screenshot

- the center of the screenshot will be pixel 960 & pixel 540 WHEN YOUR RESOLUTION IS 1980x1080 WHILE TAKING THE SCREENSHOT ( values change when using different resolutions )

- the pixels are displayed by " paint, exe " at the bottom , program that comes with Windows

----------------- Position the mesh in Nifskope -----------------------

- IF the whole weapon is not centered correctly and the front Iron Sight is too far off the point of impact THEN the mesh needs to be re-positioned in NIFSKOPE

- AFTER you get the weapon in a " decently centered position on the X & Z axis " you can go into Creation Kit and continue with fine-tuning

- when editing .Nif files you don't have to exit Fallout4.exe , you just have to exit to the menu

------------------------ Fine-Tuning -------------------------

- the FRONT IRON SIGHT ( closest to the muzzle ) is aligned from the Creation Kit Object Modification :

fzoomDataOffsetZ ADD << your number >>

fzoomDataOffsetX ADD << your number >>

fzoomDataOffsetY ADD << your number >>

- the number can be negative / positive , depending on the direction you want to go in

------------------------- Rear Iron Sight --------------------------

- The Rear Iron Sight ( closest to the Stock ) is aligned by moving the mesh in NIFSKOPE
