kevineugenius
I've searched this topic a lot as it's happened probably 10 times now and each time it seems to have a different trigger; meaning it's likely random and what I thought was a trigger was just a coincidence. This time, I was installing a couple mods that I had already downloaded earlier, went into and out of the game several times with no problems, uninstalled one mod, reinstalled it, something like that (I wasn't paying that much attention or taking notes), ran LOOT because I thought maybe one mod (affinity x3) wasn't working as it was taking forever to get Danse affinity and suddenly, just like so many times before, when I load my game it says there are a bazillion mods missing. I went and looked at my plugins.txt file because previously that file had been wiped and I was able to recover all mods that way. No good, it's got them all listed. Loadorder.txt has everything, dlcList.txt has them all... so no quick fix I guess. For the umpteenth time I have to manually uninstall and reinstall every single mod I've got. This can't happen to everyone or people would be posting lividly all over the place. What am I doing wrong? Do I need to do the launcher exe workaround from back in December of last year? This drives me nuts to the point where I'm close to uninstalling the game, taking back all the good things I've ever said about mods, and looking for something else during the summer sale. It's soooo frustrating.

QuickKeyzz
Remember with the 1.5 patch and up you have to add the astric (shift 8 ) before each mod name in the plug-in file, also don't forget to enable the "READ ONLY" option in the file preferences for both the plug-in file as well as the load order file. This is very important if you use the default FO4 launcher. Took me awhile to finally get everything to work, so you too might have to load the game a few times before it reads all the plug-ins. Hope this helps.

Then when the plugins reset just copy and paste from the backup file. It saves a lot of time. The Rabbit
kevineugenius
Ah, interesting. Now that I open my plugins.txt they do all have the asterisk but I've never seen that before. Maybe my game wasn't actually up to date and it somehow loaded that update when I was messing around with other things. It does have UniqueItems.esp without an asterisk and I know that mod is working so I'm not sure this is 100% what has happened, but definitely something I didn't know and hadn't seen before. Thanks! I would be thrilled beyond belief if this never happened again.
