Mod idea

Hi there. I'm Ressing and I'm primarily an XB1 player, mainly because my computer is so terrible at running games minecraft crashes. Well, I was psyched about mods coming to the xbox, so much so that when I was told mod support was released I literally walked home in the pouring rain just to check it out.

First off, thank you to every modder who has made ports to the consoles, your the real mvps here.

Secondly, I LOVE settlements. I love being able to build and decorate them for my settlers.

Thats where my problem comes in. Settlers knock stuff over like crazy, I knock stuff over, companions knock things over. Junk is hard to place. So many things.

So I wanna try and mod, specifically a settlement crafting/decoration mod.

Thats where problem number 2/3 comes in. I can't test on my pc since it can't run Fallout 4, and I'm not even sure what to use to mod (which is easily fixable since I'm actively reading tuts and watching videos on it)

But the main part of the mod would be adding a category in the decorations menu that has craftable/placeable junk. The recipes for them would be what you'd get if you scrapped the junk item. So say you scrapped a plate and got 1 ceramic, the plate would also cost 1 ceramic to make.

More things:

  • better looking merchant stalls, more modern looking?
  • tables with snap nodes so the junk items can be snapped down in different spots
  • mannequins and weapon displays?
  • other items like food, drinks, stimpaks (other medical items?), like anything that could be picked up and moved
  • THOSE DANG PLANTERS WHY ARENT THEY CRAFTABLE BASE GAME???
  • more stuff as i think of it?

So basically I'm just kinda looking for some support, maybe tips and such or a tester? (since I cant test on my pc)

Anyway, thanks for reading!

You probably should of posted on Bethesda.net since a lot of people here now hate console modders. Reason why that no one is responding.

Not really... It has been commonplace for years for us to just ignore 'mod ideas' from people on the Nexus simply because everyone and their mother has ideas they think should be made.

Don't pretend like this is anything new.

Like I said. Everyone here hates console modders. I also forgot the minority here who hate other peoples ideas, like this guy I'm quoting ^^^

Yeah. Its not because people hate console modders. Its because every other post on here seems like some guy saying we should make something or another, something I'd dislike regardless of whether the person in question was using a console or a PC.

Op didn't look like they were suggesting a mod...looked like asked no for help starting out, to me.

...those 'you're not as good as Skyrim' and 'console bad!' thread has got everyone riled up.

Edit: best I can do for you and those topics is remind that a lot of the Skyrim and Fallout 3/NV guides carry over quite nicely to this current Creation Kit. The specific questions don't really fall under my, and a few of them are already on the nexus for download (better looking stalls and the placement stuff ones, I believe, are there...you might be interested in tracking down those...even if only for examples).

This exact mod already exists. Its called Ocdecorator: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/4270/?tab=4&&navtag=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Ffallout4%2Fajax%2Fcomments%2F%3Fmod_id%3D4270%26page%3D1%26sort%3DDESC%26pid%3D0%26thread_id%3D3493510&pUp=1

Unfortunately there havent been any updates for a while and the author hasnt stated yet if hes bringing it to consoles or not.

Well a mix of OCD and Functional Displays. No idea how the author of FD feels about consoles/bethesda.net

Oh also OP's problem 2/3 has a part B that I'm unsure if the OP is aware of: without fallout installed on a PC, that PC can't run the CK. Though I agree with Blah that if I had to guess, it sounds like OP wants to make it themselves, but I'm not sure their hardware would let them if they know their PC can't run FO4.

I like abbreviations today.
