Illiad86
No problem :) Yeah, RAM is super cheap now. This RAM (2x2GB DDR3 1600) I got for Christmas last year for $90 is down to like $35 :verymad: Sometimes I hate technology lol. I was just looking at The Witcher 2's recommended specs. They are the same as Skyrim's. So if your able to play The Witcher 2 at decent frame rates, Skyrim will run fine  I surpass the recommended specs for TW2 and it runs very well. Skyrim will be a piece of cake...that is if it's just as optimized...which I doubt. TW2 isn't a console port... If we put it this way. I have all the requirements for recommended on Skyrim. I have the 4GB of RAM and all, but I still have 32 bit system. That's the only concern. Requirements are just a ballpark estimate like others have said. I honestly think they just put "you gotta have this crazy card" so you'll go and buy it. I've played many a games back in the day where I didn't meet the minimum requirements and I could still play them on the highest settings. You'll be fine  Just upgrade to a 64 bit OS when you can...it's not totally necessary, but it's a good thing to have.

elderiii
I'm not at all sure if I can believe that it only takes 6GB of HDD space... Oblivion took 4.6 with Shivering Isles installed (no mods). I would have expected Skyrim to take at least 10-12 if not more. Everything else looks about inline with what I would expect.
Deleted1342120User
I probably sound like a dumbass, but how can one tell whether he has a dual core or quad core? My specs are Intel core i7 Processor 870 at 2.93 ghz. 8 mb Ram. Running Win 7, 64 bit. Video card: ATI Radeon HD 5770, 1 GB GDDR5. Thanks!

Absolute best place to find detailed info on Intel proc is...drumroll....Intel. Here is your specific CPU, which lists cores, and also, you can type in any other CPU to see details, plus you can compare CPU others easily. Intel CPU You've got 4 cores, and a very nice CPU to boot! Generic Intel CPU link
Deleted1342120User
Thank you very much, Geekpryde, for anwering my question. Very silly of me indeed not to have thought of going to Intel!
tem1980
6gb seems awfully low for expectations, FO3 had like 8 or 9gb req, NV had 10. Hopefully there is some sort explaination coming, or I'll be a bit worried till release.
Deleted1572091User
Ha. It's really quite amusing how now that the specs are FINALLY released... everyone is just even more confused about if their PCs are up to snuff xD But honestly, I don't see how the main requirements are seen as low by anyone. I rarely see game requirements stating 4GB recommended RAM. And I really wasn't expecting a quad core rec. There's plenty of modern games that don't list needing one. And 4890? Sure, it's not the best ever, but 3 years ago it was pretty much the best out there (excluding x2 cards). Considering this is a console port we're talking about... 4890 is plenty better than what's in current gen consoles. That indicates to me that either the game is badly optimized (I doubt Bethesda's been lazy with this game), or there will actually be some improvement for PC gamers aside from slightly higher res textures. The 6GB HDD space though... that really has me confused. Most of my current gen games on Steam take up at least 7.5GB. Is Pete telling the truth to a whole new level? They're just that good that they can do that? Guess we'll have to wait and see.
Nightwolfhunter
wWhy does it need a quad core if those other specs are so low? i can play The Witcher 2 on High with my duo cores. So I think I'll be OK.
