Skyrim System Requirements question

rec is 260 .. the 450 is a lil less or just on par .. about the same really .. the 450 has DX11 though .. which honestly means squat for this game.

And the graphics ram doesn't mean a whole lot .. its really just about texture size and screen size .. 1gig is standard these days and more than enough for

You will run it but not on "ultra" settings .. it will look better than the 360 though! .. which is a pos compared to your rig.

what do you mean "which is a pos compared to your rig.?

@ Dieboldy: It will definitely be better than Xbox.

Mods will be as good as the modders make them. Some will suck. Some will be up to your taste [e.g. appearance mods]. Some will be critical like unofficial patches. In Oblivion's case, those fixed something like 1,800+ bugs and quest breakers, after the last patch from Bethesda. Some will be mind-blowing and overhaul the game in ways you never imagine would be possible. For example, I'm now unable to enjoy Oblivion without Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul, which fixed most of what was annoying with Oblivion.

And then you have total conversions, which are basically standalone games, like Nerhim: At Fate's Edge.

@ Elsarian: The video card is really the weak spot on that machine, it's more than 3 years old now. It should still run the game decently at mid settings, but I wouldn't expect to max everything, especially if you like gaming at high resolutions. You'd still be above Xbox-level graphics, but far from max. If you're on a budget, you could get something like the 5750 for ~100$ that brings you inline with the recommended specs, or 150$ for the GTX 550 TI which puts you well over recommended specs, and you'd have DX11 card [in either cases]. And you could sell the old one on eBay for ~25$.

If you're not on a budget, then the sky's the limit. But you'll need to change that card eventually, because it doesn't even support the DX11 niceties, and it'll choke on more demanding games.

I mean "piece of Sh#%" .. your PC is better than a 360

@Elsarian .. Idk .. I don't keep up with ATI cards at all .. Since .. oh say .. 2004 when they started to suck.

Ok so it will be better on the pc then my xbox? How good will the mods be? I never modded oblivion

Watch these, and see for yourself:

I still really dont know if its worth it. I played the fallout new vegas on my pc and xbox but couldnt really tell the difference in the graphics. Also i do like the mods for the game but all i know from my friends is that one of the main things that oblivion mod had was dragon mounts. I know skyrim has something to do with dragons...im still debating if i should go for the pc. Ill be updating my pc by putting a new mother board in it and SLI the video card i have know.

Yeah I know exactly what you mean headbomb. Thanks for the feed back. The card has really served me well though. I am looking into a 6950, but for the time being, I am going for a 5870 until next few pay checks XD.
