Trying to remove a mod I don't recall ever downloading.

When I talk to any npc I get a extra dialog option (it's the same line for all NPC's) that lets me buy whatever is in a NPC's inventory, but the dialog is all in another language with a ton of symbols above the letters. I want to remove this mod but I can't figure out which mod this is, and so far every mod I've uninstalled hasn't removed this particular mod. Also everything else in the game is still in English.

Screenshot? Sounds almost like "Immersive Speechcraft" to me.

Could also be "NPC Bartering". Maybe check the screenshots on the mod page to confirm. The Mod Author is German, so there is a small chance that is the language you're seeing. Not sure if that is an issue this mod has or not though.

I think it's time to take a look at your Load Order.

Used boss ( I know old and not supported anymore), used Loot, and it's still there. I guess I'll try starting a new game and see if it really is gone and just stuck on my already existing saves. Hopefully that all it is. Otherwise this is confounding me.

A new save with all mods disabled, the problem is gone, but when activated it's back. I just can't figure out this foreign language NPC bartering/trading mod I don't seem to have in my mods and yet it's there and I never downloaded one specifically unless it's a part of one of my other mods. Load order doesn't seem to be the issue, tried that several times. How do I share my mod list without typing each one one by one?

Anyone know which might be the offending mod? Also this is how LOOT ordered them.

That's not a foreign language - it's corrupted text caused by a conflict, something being outdated or things being in the wrong order.

 

Also, your load order is messed up.

 

I find that LOOT is very unreliable until you've tamed it. I still use BOSS, which is still supported (last time I looked), but the Master List is not being updated any more.

 

LOOT's load order errors are a lot worse when you don't have the latest version of every mod created for the separate Unofficial patches, or the latest USLEEP version if you are using USLEEP (which you are not).

 

You HAVE to have this at the top (if you are not using USLEEP)

 

Skyrim.esm

Update.esm

Unofficial Skyrim Patch.esp

Dawnguard.esm

Unofficial Dawnguard Patch.esp

HearthFires.esm

Unofficial Hearthfire Patch.esp

Dragonborn.esm

Unofficial Dragonborn Patch.esp

Then other *.esm mods (usually), then *.esp mods

 

You do not HAVE to use USLEEP instead of the separate Unofficial Patches if you have all the DLC. I don't and that list is from my own load order.

 

Some mods, however, will be designed for the USLEEP version of the Unofficial Patches, so you have to be careful.

 

Also, if you change to USLEEP, you will have to check all your mods and use the USLEEP versions of all the mods, especially Arthmoor's Mods - they usually HAVE to be updated at the same time and he does not keep old versions available for download, except that I think he keeps the last good version for the separate patches, and the latest USLEEP version. Not everyone has Skyrim Legendary or Skyrim Vanilla plus all 3 DLC, so the last good versions of the separate patches are also still available.

 

Also, you will have to use the TES5Edit script to update any Mods for USLEEP, if the Mod Author has not already done so.

 

 

That dialogue option could be from EFFDialogue.esp, I suppose. Try getting the latest non-USLEEP version of everything, sorting your mods correctly and disabling that one if the problem has not gone.

 

Or, convert to USLEEP and try it like that. I still have not bothered, as updating 180 mods and converting and so on can be a real faff, especially when the game is fine with the versions I currently have. I don't play Skyrim often enough these days to make it worthwhile.
