Cold Fusion now a reality?

And to think that this is coming from Italy!!! (if you lived in Italy, you would know what that means....very behind technologically, leading politicians that outright lie publicly about the "inefficiency and impracticality of solar power", the Brain Drain as leading scientists and researchers abandoned the country, and I could go on and on).

Yeah, tell me about it. I live in Croatia, just across the Italian Adriatic sea border, and it's the same thing. "solar panels are inefficient to use", "natural resources are worthless, we should turn to nuclear power", etc. All the smart people are running away as far as possible.

And here's a funny fact, you probably all know who Nikola Tesla is, right? Well Croatia (at that time Yugoslavia) didn't want to finance his research of ac generators and radiowaves stating it's stupid and worthless and that no one would want to use that. And ironically, the village where Tesla was born and raised still doesn't have electricity.

I know it's not about the topic, but it's just sad.

You know times like this there should be a forum dedicated to science and news in general. Call the off topic news and Science forum.

becuase stuff like this needs to be heard.

I say a maximum of 5 years until we see this tech in cars, 2 years in trains. The time frame is fast if you think about it, especially with such new technology like this.

multiply that by a factor of 20

you forgot to consider the extensive lobbies that have a vested interest in keeping such technologies off the markets

It only works when it isn't public and verifiable as working. Even if they do some arm twisting in the US congress and in some European countries and make up laws which bans its usage for 100 years in lieu of safety concerns... It wouldn't do much for other countries who aren't as under the thumb of oil companies. Heck... The most hilarious outcome of such a thing would be China and some countries in the middle east fully embracing it and subsequently liquidating most of their stored supply of crude oil.
