Azworai
So, I first checked for what I believe was the mods I opted for for my most recent playthrough(plus a few more promising ones I looked into.) The resulting conflict was discovered using the third party launcher you mentioned. It seems *most* of the conflict originates from Long War's mods... which... seems incredibly strange to me... given the quality of Long War Studios works. 'Mods with colliding overrides found! These mods will not (fully) work when run together. Conflict found for 'UIArmory_MainMenu':Long War Perk Pack* Long War Leader Pack* Long War Perk Pack* Long War Toolbox Conflict found for 'UISquadSelect':Long War Toolbox* Long War Leader Pack* Show Enemies on Mission Planning Conflict found for 'UIArmory_Promotion':True retroactive AWCLong War Perk Pack * (These mods use UIScreenListeners, meaning they do not conflict with each other)'
Dragon32
Yeah, the LWS mods conflict with absolutely loads. Pretty sure that "Show Enemies on Mission Planning" was updated to cope with Toolbox's changes True Retroactive AWC hasn't (I don't think), saw something where -bg- / bountygiver knows it needs updating but just hasn't Anyway, neither of those are the Geoscape though. So... If you haven't already get Remove Missing Mods. It'll make things easier. Disable all mods which affect the Geoscape (e.g. affecting Points of Interest). Does it still crash? If it does then you'll need to do some kind of binary search. Disable half your mods. Does it still crash? No? Then problem mod is in the half you disabled. Re-enable half of them (so a quarter) and check again. Does it still crash? Yes: One of those quarter is problem mod. No: One of the disabled quarter is the problem. Etc. etc. Oh, can't hurt to clear out your My Documents config folder and re-verify files using Steam. When you've done that you'll need to launch the game normally as the Alternate Launcher won't see the files it needs.
Azworai
If you haven't already get Remove Missing Mods. It'll make things easier. Do you mean ignore missing mods, or is there a different mod I don't know of? Remove Missing Mods turned up nothing when I ran a search on the Nexus. Oh, can't hurt to clear out your My Documents config folder and re-verify files using Steam. When you've done that you'll need to launch the game normally as the Alternate Launcher won't see the files it needs. Is there a proper way to do that? Or do I just delete everything? Edit: As for disabling geoscape affecting mods... does XGStrategy affect the geoscape? It may, but I'm unsure. The only mod that seems to have any class that might be related to the Strategy Layer is SGTCals collaborative 'Playable Aliens' mod... though I'm not an expert with knowing what classes might affect the strategy/scanning Edited July 28, 2016 by Azworai
Dragon32
Remove Missing Mods is on the Workshop. Ignore Missing Mods functionality was added to base game in May(?) patch. Remove Missing Mods will unbind particular mods from your save game so you don't get the warning message for ever. Just manually delete from Windows Explorer. XGStrategy sure sounds like it's the Geoscape. But then I'm a mod user not a maker so I don't know the ins and outs of the game.
Azworai
Do the config files create on game launch? After I verified post-deletion they didn't seem to return.
Dragon32
Yeah, launch Firaxis launcher (don't bother selecting mods with it). Launch game and get to the main menu. IIRC, there's no need to actually load a save. All the files in My Docs\Config will have been recreated by then. If you're using Mod Options Menu or Mod Config Menu then some non-Firaxis mod-related INIs will be stored in that My Docs folder too. Back those up separately, or restore from the Recycle Bin. Azworai
That didn't fix the save I had, so I am thinking I may attempt a new campaign and see if any of these fixes work. x.x When I tried to load the game without certain mods, it immediately crashed and gave me the pure virtual function warning. Dragon32
Oh, there's been an update to Long War Toolbox. Apparently that caused some of the instances of that GISRunning error.
Azworai
Already grabbed that, but thanks. Here's hoping that I found the issue(even though I hope it is not Playable Aliens, as I really love that mod). Now I just need to play until I complete a campaign or it crashes! lol
