Hmm well crysis 2 was at first dx9 and 10 wasn't it? Then they added in dx11 later on? And a texture pack. So if a modder can and will add a very high res texture pack and someone (if possible) can incorporate dx11 will it work? Or would only bethesda be able to add dx11?

they wont add DX11 .. Thats major and this is a low spec game .. Texture maps wont help the water effects really .. I guess someone could replace the normal maps they use for the animation but thats not really going to help much .. Crysis2 DX9 had real 3D animated waves .. I'm not sure how that is done to be honest .. I'm sure its just a morph animation but I don't now how they do it on a large scale like that .. Bethesda isn't known for tricks like that anyways .. the water in fallout 3 looked great to me .. I dont see the problem with it looking the same. "more or less"

UR engine had a nice animated water for a old engine in dx9 I forget the tech name they had for it. It looked like a grid sheet in the editor similar to terrain. Had all sorts of values to adjust even interactive I forget them all I haven't use it in years.

Only problem was using one of them it was one sided texture so if you go under water the top texture was invisible. I fix it by setting another animated water down right on top of it and then flipping it. tinted the texture so it looked different and more like underwater. Added in 4 volumes just for fog that had blend time the idea of you go deeper it got darker. its amazing what you can do using a few tricks

Oh hmmm.. Do you have the ability to make the water in skyrim better? Assuming it's possible. I know it's super hard and I couldn't learn it in a billion years.

@Zachcuden I'm afraid not I am just a old level designer back in the day I use to use UR a lot but I imagine its far different then gamebyro and the new creation engine. I'm a bit out of touch on a few things now of days and honestly don't have the time I use to.

I thought the water looked fine in the demo for the little they showed

Yeah it didn't look half bad. But I surf and am just in love with the waves and the barrels and its power. And when getting nailed by a huge one leaves you just tumbling and blind underwater. An actual struggle ya know? But yeah it seems like a tall task indeed

...How does that not meet or exceed you're expectations. I think we're a little spoiled.

On the other hand "Kelly Slater's Pro Surfer" (circa 2002) was pretty freakin sweet...

...but i can live without a Gnarly Perk, although that would be gnarly.
