Possible cause for some peoples assets being used without permission

Had this happen to me just last night. Still can't figure out who it belonged to (asked torcher, but wasn't their's...could still have been something from WET...).

Either way, just "Remove''d it from the archive (as it wasn't necessary anyhow). Glad I was paying attention, though.

But yeah, it happens to us "Numnuts"...point is, though, that's it's not difficult to miss one file in a list ~100.

That's exactly why I brought it up.

And again I hadn't even thought about the issue because I don't have a lot of mods and the mods I do use don't have loose files.

Always mod with a fresh data folder, unless your space is really at a premium, I actually have 3 data folders, one for playing, one for my main WIP, and one for porting. We're not on consoles space shouldn't even be a concern. Best advice I can give, you do that it packs everything correct cause it can't actually screw you.

Guys, there is a reason you're running into trouble, here. The CK doesn't expect you to have other mods installed. This is why you need to use a mod manager. It doesn't matter if it's NMM or MO, you have the ability to make profiles and remove all other mods than the one you're working on. That way, the only thing that will slip in is minor little vanilla things which can be quickly fixed and removed. One does not simply have 100 other mods installed and effectively create a mod that doesn't have dependencies on any of them.

Also, jinx.

my issue is more of my potato that I'm happy to run FO4 at 30fps. if I start to pack the game with textures packs and tones of mods my potato may just get mashed.

But yes You are 100% correct I did that with FO3/NV and do have more then one copy of FO4 installed.

And you're assuming I'm modding while other mods are installed *intentionally*.

1) Accidents happen

2) Assumptions are bad

I will, however, cop (sp?) to being hampered by lack of space last night (as I and not being as careful as usual because of that, and that being because I was relegated to my laptop since I was in a pinch).

Do I agree that it makes up a even mildly large part of what may even be mistaken as mod theft? Sadly, OP, I do not. Sorry.

Just thought I'd throw a little hyperbole into the thread.

I"m not implying it's a large part of the mod theft and again this isn't a debate about mod theft I'm saying accident's happen myself, and if people don't know it can and will happen it will happen more often.

edit and also if you think I'm trying to justify the mod theft just look at my signature, try to look up DCInteriors, NVInteriors and Beantown interiors! There all hidden in protest!!!!!!!!

I believe I understand. My apologies.

Just got a little sensitive at the implied nood'ishness and chose my words poorly.

...not that anyone would/should know, but I've been in the tech industry for 30 years and modding for several of those...I didn't appreciate the (most likely only) perceived noob implication (again, overly sensitive today, I fully admit...'welcome to the interwebs, Blah, and you really need to stop reading the forums today', heh).

I didn't mean to point a finger at anyone or call anyone a noob or console peasant in particular. I just used noob for new to modding creating mods. I know when I was new I always called myself a noob just so if I did ask or say something totally dumb someone would be kind enough to correct me.

again my comment was a general statement I wasn't pointing fingers.

No harm no foul!!
