My specs. I can run LE at 1600 x 900 on full details nearly flawlessly(very occasional stuttering from loading). I question it handling SE, however, as it seems below spec for that but someone else may know for certain

Acer EG43M (CPU 1) Motherboard - this really limits how far I can upgrade this PC and I'm not going to be buying a new one anytime soon

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1

Intel Core 2 Duo E8600 @ 3.33GHz

8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR2 @ 399MHz RAM

1TB WD Blue HDD

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti SC 2GB (EVGA)

500W Tomahawk PSU

I might be able to get a better CPU but it's not going to be much better. As for the GPU this seemed the best I could get for this PC in terms of power AND physically fitting into the case. It's the only 750 Ti that's short enough to clear the RAM slots, the other brands were too long. Even so the PCIe 1.0 slot is bottlenecking the card to some degree and I doubt any potentially better GPU that will work is going to offer any significant improvement. 8GB RAM is the max I can go. The best I hope to improve anything is eventually swapping to a 1TB SSD for speed but prices on those are still a bit high.

A 2020 question relating to this ancient pinned thread:

Do modern AMD Radeon video cards still suffer the inability to force ambient occlusion culling? This was reported in 2011–2014 posts, and is why (or one reason why) ENB users have so consistently favored Nvidia GeForce RTX video cards.

I'm finding the price difference between them to be significant enough to find out whether this allegedly crucial difference still exists in recent cards. Isn't this something AMD would have fixed by now? I'm not finding material about this that dates within the last couple of years, though. (I'm also a Mac dork about to build a Windows PC for the first time in many years, so if this seems like a bonehead "everyone knows that" question to the average Windows gamer, please have mercy.)

PS: I asking primarily about LE/Oldrim. While I will install SSE and mess around with it, 9/10 of my favorite mods don't exist for SSE yet (if ever).
