MichikoUnknownFox
Hi guys. My problem is simple. I want to make a new kind of way that lightning hits, without completely replacing the way the old shock bolts work. I mean, I want there to be an option as to which effect to use. So the new way I want is so that you kinda "call lightning" on your target. Instead of a bolt traveling from your fingertips to your opponent, it blasts the opponent with a bolt of lightning from the sky. I have this idea with this mod in mind. I just think it'd be much more interesting to watch your opponent get blasted by lightning from the sky rather than from your fingertips in some occasions. So is there a way to do this, while keeping the old ones (so I can make new spells and stuff that can use one or the other)? If there's no way to keep the old ones, then it's okay, I'd rather stick with this new lightning-from-sky system anyway. Thanks for anybody that can answer. :D - edit: Oh btw I forgot to mention, I'd like this to be available for shock weapons as well, just so it's clear that I don't want it just for target spells. In particular, I was hoping for a kind of bow or arrow that calls lightning on the target, so it's clear what I'm trying to do. Thanks again. Jumonji
I've seen this described in a tutorial although I don't remember where... the basic idea is to position an invisible activator over the head of the target, and have it trigger the shock spell at the target. Good luck with it. -Jumonji
LoginToDownload
I'm pretty sure it does. Move one activator in the air, a second activator below it, and have the first activator cast a shock spell at the second. And here's the tutorial. MichikoUnknownFox
Oh wow, thanks a bunch. I'll play around with it. It looks like exactly what I need from the tutorial. Thanks again. :D - edit: Okay so I got the normal spell working according to the tutorial. But now I can't figure out how to make it so that it casts after my weapon hits a target. Like I said, I was hoping for an arrow to hit a target, then lightning to strike that target, rather than the arrow itself being the one to electrocute the target. The arrow is more like a marker for where lightning should strike. So anyone have any ideas how to do that? I just need to get this spell working on a weapon enchant, but I don't know how to call spells from weapons because it doesn't seem to work. D: And using cast and forcing the player or victim to cast it is unnatural because you actually do the casting animation.
MichikoUnknownFox
lol I got it nevermind. Apparently using the cast command in a script doesn't call a casting animation like the wiki said it would. Therefore the command can be used even against monsters and animals that normally have no cast animation. Works like a charm now, and lightning strikes my victims perfectly.
