stumpndum
I don't know why everyone hates patches so much; fifteen minutes (on the high end) and you can go back to gaming, only you'll be playing a higher quality, less buggy game. Sounds like a great trade-off to me. As someone said before me, they start work on patches as soon as the game is done, not as soon as we get it. We should be thankful Bethesda is committed to supporting the game after launch and fixing problems even after they have our cash. I do care a bit, not to knock your argument people have to get over patches it's just in australia we got to pay for like 50gigs (in my case) of internet, soon as that's gone i gotta blow more money for more downloads unless i want something going slower then a snail. For instance i tried to install Shogun 2 the other day and had to download almost 20gigs of patches...
Snowsong
I'm all for the patches, especially when they actually fix things and not make them worse. Whoops, there I go hating on EA again.LOL. I hear ya about EA. It seems every time they patch one part of a game they end up breaking some other part.

RejectedCamel
At least the game will be getting patched. I just hope it doesn't take a long time - I'll be playing at 2 AM despite having school on the next day, so every minute counts.
AltreU
I hope the bug fixes are just for small things, I definitely won't be able to get the game patched that day... Steam doesn't allow to run unpatched games if it detects that there is a patch available (ie. if you activate it and it "sees" the patch you must download it before you can launch the game). I hate to say it, but that won't apply to me because I recently had to switch my preorder to PS3. You can avoid patches if you play Steam in offline mode, which I've had to do with other games in the past (because of the download cap on my interwebz).I do want to get the patch as soon as possible, though. I've got 2-3 game that need patching on the PS3, I just haven't been able to get over to my friends house to do it (he's got work seemingly all the time). ShadowscaleB1980
I feel your pain Altreu. I live with housemates and I share the 60Gb a month internet connection I have set up. So like you, I get really annoyed at oversized game patches. Edited November 7, 2011 by shadow_scale9180

Unless you turn off auto-patching, then you can play without patching. Great for games you've modded heavily.

Sometimes people have incredibly thick nostalgia goggles on and forget how regular and/or needed patches were back in the day as well... I mean, just TRY to get Fallout 2 version 1.0 to run properly, lol, and that was a 600 MB game.
Nightwolfhunter
It stands to reason there is a day one patch. The version on disc was completed about a month ago. There is a month of testing and notices that the dev team have found, or never got around to in the first place due to higher priority deadlines.
