diosoth Posted November 9, 2011 Share Posted November 9, 2011 Normally the Frost Ring has an enchantment of 100% resistance to frost. But when I find them they have a 50% weakness to fire in addition to that which makes them useless and all sources tell me it's not supposed to have that, so a mod has changed it somehow. I need to find out which one so I can either deactivate the mod or edit the ring back. I'll post my mod list and load order but I'm about 99% certain I can rule out OOO as the cause as I checked the ring and enchantment in TES CS and they do not show the fire weakness. diosoth Posted November 9, 2011 Author Share Posted November 9, 2011 Apparently, I was loading OOO's .esm file in CS rather than the .esp. I loaded the .esp and found the altered enchantment(another one of OOO's "wonderful" balancing changes, I'm sure. Not that I can figure it out since they left the flame and storm rings alone). Though I have no idea how to fix it- I edited the enchantment to remove that weakness effect and tried to save an .esp only for CS to fail to save it. Just gave me a bunch of odd errors in gibberish text with abort, retry or ignore options in a window titled "Assertion". I can not save a simple edit, it seems. diosoth Posted November 9, 2011 Author Share Posted November 9, 2011 I worked around the issue. Since I couldn't create an .esp to edit OOO's value, I basically loaded up JUST the Oblivion .esm file. From there i made a new enchantment called EnAppFrostVanilla which has the exact same effect as EnAppFrost, and changed the Frost Ring to use it. The .esp saved successfully and I've tested it in game. The ring has the value it has in vanilla Oblivion again. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

One thing I should point out is that having a 50% weakness to fire enchantment active causes your character to turn dark red which is one reason I wanted to make this as an .esp so i could upload the fix for others to use, considering that unlimited ring mods are used by people(I use the unlimited ring and amulet mod as a lot of decorative clothing and such uses those slots) and people might want to wear all 3 element rings if they have them.
