A World Of Pain for Dead Money

I have been working on a bunch of new locations for Dead Money and since it is going well and looking good so far I thought I'd show off a few screenshots so you can see what some of the new locations will look like.

The new locations are some of the most detailed and unique that I have attempted so far and loot is very scarce. Ammo drops are mostly in budles of 2-8 rounds and you'll need to use the relaoding bench a lot and scavenge from every corner to get through the new encounters (which are currently very very difficult but I may lower that before release).

I estimate at this stage that it is about 40-50% complete and I should hopefully have something online in 2-3 weeks.

Will this be for installing before, during or after having played though the DLC?

 

If it is capable of being implemented and played if you have already completed dead money, wil Chritine be available? And, will there be a means to get back to the Sierra Madre if already completed?

I know there are mods that allow you to return to the DLCs with your companions after completion, will there be duplication of that effect to reduce numbers of mods in Load Order, or will it make use of those mods to tie-in?

 

Being a big endorser of AWOP I look forward to seeing what you do with the DLC's :thumbsup:

I have a WIP that requires going back to Sierra Madre and I leave it up to the player to decide how to get back there (meaning they can choose which mod they use).

 

You can get Christine as a permanent companion here.

 

That is a good question about whether these locations are available during the main Dead Money quest though. Your screens show you with the followers, so it would seem like yes. That would make it more interesting for sure.

I'm not sure about play through after the DLC has been beaten. I never intended to play it that way myself so I never gave it any consideration.

It's been designed for play through from the DLC game start.

It should not conflict with any mods that allow for this though.

The way it is structured is to compliment the original game from game start.

Each district will have 2-3 new locations (totalling about 12-16 areas in total). 8 are complete so far. They are just meant to flow like the original layout with very little in the way of useful supplies lying around and buildings are often destroyed so you wander into a cafe and end up exploring the neigbouring library through collapsed walls & such.

At the moment going there on a loot mission is a bit pointless as this has been balanced much more towards survival with very limited supplies. Depending on how good you are in a fight and choice of weapon (and difficulty) you can walk out of the new areas with a little more than you went in with but you'll prob need to use a reloading bench first. On the other hand the chance to loot some more unusual weapons has been a lot of fun along with balancing ammo levels for the new guns (so maybe those last 2 4570 rounds will save your life),

Comat has been levelled but not alongside the original game so tough Ghosts will spawn in the early levels and by the time you have recruited the three companions you will have encounted a couple of the toughest vanilla Ghost spawns (prob new tiers to come).

 

I have also started adding and planning notes that explain what happened to the other people who turned up at the Sierra Madre mostly told through the diaries of a fourth survivor (Captain Randall) in the area who lives in the sewers (who can be found and bartered with eventually).

There will be a lot more info on Dean especially who does not take kindly to Randall's presence.

Looks great! Any chance you could make the Cantina Madrid Restruant in the casino? For some reason is wasen't included in the final DLC, just replace with a static entrance door. If you need a place to start the " Serria Madre on the Strip" mod has a cantina Madrid.

Hmm, not sure - I would like to add stuff to the Casino but I don't think I'll be able to do so. The problem is that all of the Dead Money interiors do not show up in GECK so I can't edit them. I know one way to get around it is to copy the entire interior and re-paste it into the render window which makes everything show up again. The problem I have then is that it never pastes into the same place and if I remember right a straight duplicate did not seem to work. This disconnects levels from thier navmesh and door teleports which then have to be re-added. If that was all I had to do I would prob do that but changing an entire interiors position would result in this mod being incompatible with any other mods that try and edit those locations.

If anyone knows a simple way around this invisible interiors prob then please let me know otherwise I'll have to keep the new areas in the exterior zones.
