Thepal
Found some new file types I haven't had to do much with before (well, SWF I have, but looking to get them back into Flash) that are used in Skyrim's interface. I know what SWF and SVG are, but am not entirely sure how to edit them. Does anyone know a free program that will convert from SWF to FLA properly? As for SVG (used for fonts in Skyrim), anyone know good programs to edit them? And also convert them to TTF or other font types? As for GFX, anyone know exactly what type of file that is? Seems a bunch of companies have been using that extension, so I'm not entirely sure what program would be good to edit them in (the GFX files are used for interface stuff... I think interface animation)
AxlRocks
SVG, check out Inkscape. Best thing out there for editing and saving in SVG, and you can even get a portable version if you don't want to install it fully. SWF, unfortunately I don't know. I've been trying to find a decent way to convert and edit them recently, and I've had no luck. GFX, no clue. I've seen that before as well, but it's not always the same between games so... and I don't have Skyrim yet to check them out, this last hour is dragging so bad lol Anyway, hope that helps. raatorotta
GFX could have something to do with the 3d mapview of Skyrim. I don't really know, just wild guess. Edited November 11, 2011 by raatorotta
LilBudyWizer
Just a wild guess, but mine would be gfx are shaders. The loading screens I've seen have a smoke effect which would be one place you would need a shader for the interface. The skill tree, highlighting and such might be other places. Some have complained mouse response is sluggish on the interface. Using a shader rather than more traditional means for the interface would be a potential cause. Not that it would be inherent since the keyboard is responsive, but rather something to make mistakes with.
QuantaStarfire
It's possible that GFX is a Scaleform file format, which means it would tie back into the UI. Preliminary Googling lead me to this page, suggesting that they're Actionscript files used by Scaleform.
Thepal
Ah. Scaleform would make sense.
Dragon93
Yeh; GFX is used for the core parts of the HUD; quest_journal, hudmenu, racesex_menu, safezone, textentry, tutorialmenu.Rest of the interface can be edited through .SWF files (http://www.swftools.com/tools-details.php?tool=4666653156 OR http://www.swf-editor.com/downloads/ <- 2nd one good for finding what to edit in the free one aka the 1st link). Would very much like to be able to edit .GFX if anyone knows how.
Owlsbane
Would very much like to be able to edit .GFX if anyone knows how. Found this link somewhere on another forum, explaining how to turn .gfx files into .fsw ones, so that they can be edited.
