shadowace
This would be really cool, and I've been watching this topic since it started, I haven't lost interest!
Triforce1
Shadowace, much appreciation for watching, but know that input would be great. Also, can you script or retexture? You I have not talked to, and I need people like that. Oh and cazaam, thanks too for sticking around. But I'll say it again, I CANNOT SCRIPT. I will have to see if whoever will agree to take up the mantle can do that. Yeah, I guess the person who started this idea should be able to do the majority of it, but that is why I put this under ideas. I can and will build everything, and present ideas, but I am a hopeless failure at scripts. Trust me, I've tried. Do you know any good scripters? I need you people! madman132
Dragon city would be very nice =) It could have a wonderful View on the Imperial City and Lake Rumare, far away near the Horizon.Cyrodiil has a beautiful Landscape. Dragons, heres a Problem: Western Dragons are usally big. Very Big. Multiple Dragons would slow down any Computer to a pretty much halt, if you overdo ist. Do you know "Panzer Dragoon"? The Dragons here are smaller, like 5 meters long at max. This Dragons are rideable, flyable "Pets" for the Playerchar in the Panzer Dragoon games. Now you could have a whole stable with Dragonmounts without slowing the game to much. You could even use the original Stable Buildings from Oblivion. Triforce1
My idea for the dragons would be like the Akatoshs from Saiden Storm. Those seem like 16 feet to me...? There wouldn't be more than five or six dragons aside from the player's own. And most would just be there for aesthetics. The only ones that other NPCs would ride would be about two. Oh, and no view of Cyrodill. The city will be in the basin of a flooded crater. I was, however thinking of an Akatosh shrine on the top edge of the crater. Perhaps facing the IC...Oh, and Shadowace, love to have ya. Nice Hedgehog, by the way.
madman132
A flooded Crater? Would be something like a Captian Nemo City? Will there be some kind of magical Bubble, which protects the City from being crushed by the Water of the Craterlake? That would open up some possibillities: The Playerchar could walk "through" the magical Barrier which keeps the Water out. One Step inside, next step outside with the "Breath-o-meter" and swimming. That would be ridiculously hard to do, to say the Least. It would be easier to just make a "Glass" Dome, to provide beautiful Views of the Floor of that Lake. Perhaps with some Slaugtherfish swimming by every now and then. Being inside a Crater would be a nice oppurtunity for Weapons and Armor. Of course, there is some very very very rare Ore, found only in the Meteorite which formed this Crater in the firstplace, many many Eons ago... Back to the Dragons: Are they supposed to be flyable Mounts for the Playerchar? How are they supposed to get out of the Lake?
Abramul
I interpreted "in the basin of a flooded crater" as meaning "on an island in the middle of a crater lake".
Triforce1
Oh great Cat-in-a-Basket, you never fail to amaze me; now it is with your magnificent skills of perception. Abramul is obviously correct, madman (how apt). You are, of course, correct, when you say that those ideas would be impossibly hard. Please rephrase your question and I will happily answer it. Oh yeah, and they are essentially player mounts. But when fast travelling to certain locations while flying, you will now teleport up high (I Hope). Get it? Oh yeah, and they are essentially player mounts. But when fast travelling to certain locations while flying, you will now teleport up high (I Hope). Get it? So you'll have an underwater City. Nice =) So youre saying i may mount my Dragon, fly a bit around within the "Citybubble" if i want to and then fastravel to any Point on the Tamriel map? Nice =)Well, a little thing though: If i fastravel around the map for some time the Dragon may want to go home, like the Horses will do if they arent needed. Furthermore: it would be nice to have a Tunnel of some Kind. Mounts cant travel to an interor cell. So you may want to build a Tunnel from your city to the outside World, to that the city would be part of a World cell. Playerchars Dragons can go home now if not needed. And the Player wont have to Fastravel to some random Point of the Worldmap just to get out of your city. Sure, walking trough a tunnel may be more Time consuming then just fastravelling, but it will reward the Player with an Underwaterhike =) Otherwise, you would have to stable the Dragons on some Point outside the City, like its done in the other big cities. Mounts and Players on Mounts cant aktivate Zone-Doors, like City doors. The Mount will be stabled outside, while the Player is spawned inside, getting the Message "Your Horse has been stabled outside the City. So unless you found a way to let Playermounts cross the Portal, Door, whatever leads to your City, you may want to build that Tunnel and make your City exterior Part of the World Cell. Next request: Please include a "Walk Mode" for the Dragons. It would look cool to walk or run off Dive Rock, fall a bit, then expand the mighty Dragon Wings to sail majestially on the Wind. Picture that in your Head :DFurthermore, you may walk with your Dragon through that Tunnel=) I dont know how the Dragonmounts from the Akatosh Dragonmount mod fly. Do you walk with it, like with a Horse, then press a button, like Jump or something and it starts to fly? *ponder*Well, i dont know how the Dragonmounts are stirred when in mid Air either... One Thing i do know is: We will want to have some Backgroundstory :D I would love to write something. What NPCs will be there? I may include some Backstory from their Ancestors. "We-Clum-See, my Grandfather, was arrested by the City Council for breaking an Ore-Cart in the <Rare Mineral which is mined there> Mine, so he may know something about that Dungeon you asked about, where you have to get in for that Quest this Madmanfellow cant make up so fast while writing in this Forumthingy..." Well, i would have to change the Dialogue a bit^^ Would you like your City to be an ancient Dwemer City? Since most of the Oblivion Players didnt ever see Dwemer Architecture, you could steel some Ayleid textures to make your Work if not easy, but somewhat more "possible"... The Metal Textures, like the ones on the Ayleid Containers would be good. You could even use entire Objects, like the Doors, Cages, Gasvents and so on. "The Last surviving Dwemer build the City in an Last Ditch Attempt to avoid Extinction in the War with the Chinmer."Build some sort of secret, hard-to-find Crypt with some 75% Scaled Skeletons lying around. Easier to do than actually model Dwemer NPCs.Well, then the Backstory would have to explain why this Dwemer all died. *ponder* Well, it cant be some Sort of Divine Intervention, then no one would want to live in this "cursed" Place. Unless you want to include some Sort of Curse in a Quest. Something like that could be used to explain the Appearance of the City... Well, not knowing your Intentions here, i'll stick to "natural Causes". Dwemer died, City must be still attrative for people to live there. Puts Diseases out.Damn. Magical Experiment? No, Dwemer arent known for being good Mages. City under Water! I got it. "The Dwemer, even in all their ingenuity, failed to Foresee the Dangers of the pressure of Water and the Effects it had on their Bodies..."Wait a minute. Any Negative Effect of the Higher pressure in that giant Glassball of yours (;D) would have been noticed...What could effect you in some Way without being noticed while slowly killing you?Something that has to do with the Waterpressure.Let me think about this for a while...
