Fatalmasterpiece
And now the $60 I just gave Bethesda for a worthless plastic disc is also unavailable... I only have internet through a tethered Droid 2. Steam will not update, even after deleting all it's files and "reinstalling" it. What can I do? I am so dissapointed in Bethesda at this point. Have. No. Words.
Fatalmasterpiece
Any chance anyone could upload Steam so I could manually try and install it?

Fatalmasterpiece
Guess I am just going to have to wait until next week, take apart my computer, take it to a friends house, install the game and come home, hoping afterward that Steam won't try and screw me again. Unfortunately I'm sure the next update won't be available for manual download, only through Steam directly... requiring another tear down and trip. @#$% this I'm going back to sleep. JimboUK
It sounds like Steam are having issues their end, in the "Install from DVD" thread people are having the problems. There's no reason why a tethered Android connection wouldn't work.
Fatalmasterpiece
No, I hhave had this issue for months now. Haven't even been able to play New Vegas. But I thought if I got Skyrim maybe it would have a newer Steam client that was already up to date. :/

Steam will not launch but when you go to the "Steam/steamapps/common/skyrim" in you C directory, you can launch the game independently. However, I can't run it in full screen and can't figure out how to.
moarx
No, I hhave had this issue for months now. Haven't even been able to play New Vegas. But I thought if I got Skyrim maybe it would have a newer Steam client that was already up to date. :/ So despite having the issue for several months, you never had the idea of contacting Steam support? Obviously there's something wrong on your end, it's not a widespread issue. I've had a few various issues in the past and generally doing the following (which is actually copied from an old support ticket) fixes most issues. Exit Steam and go to the folder called C:\Program Files\Steam\ (this is the default location for a Steam installation - if you set a different installation directory, you will need to browse to it).Delete all of the contents of this folder except:The Steamapps folder and Steam.exe (If 'exe' is not visible, look for the black and white Steam icon)Restart your computer. Then, you will need to launch Steam.exe from within the Steam installation folder, and not from a pre-existing shortcut. Steam is the worst DRM ever to grace mankind. I feel your pain, friend, I wish there was something I could do to help you. Have you never used any other form of DRM? Steam is easily the least intrusive of any DRM, all it requires is a single online activation. The offline mode has been worked on over the years and it's extremely reliable at this point (personally I've never had a single issue with it), there's nothing preventing you from playing your games. Not to mention all of the special features/services it provides, from reliable cloud saves/settings (unlike GFWL which is known to commonly delete saves), community features, screenshot manager, constant sales, and more. GFWL and Ubisoft's terrible PC DRM are FAR worse as far as being unreliable/buggy/requiring internet connection.
