Well, you still have to use Steam, even IF you bought it from the store. Edited November 30, 2011 by pottman

Megaman1221
It doesn't matter. I bought a copy from Gamestop just because I prefer having a hard copy, it still runs through Steam. Also the talk on the Beth forums is that they are removing 1.2 from the servers for all the issues it is causing.
Tranderas
Just ran the game post patch, defragged and checked game cache files just in case. Started up, Lydia was missing; fast travel to a nearby location fixed. Five minutes later, SHABOOM, same glitch. Screens go dead, game dies, music skips. Sweet "fix," bethesda. You really start to think what the developers have been doing for the past 2 weeks or so.....How could they not have anticipated this uproar of dissatisfaction? Do they not have computers of their own to test out the new fixes on? Are they even aware of our black screen crashes? You think it would have been their #1 priority to fix anything in the game that may END the game for a certain amount of people. But instead they worry about cleaning up dragons, and making sure we can use the "Esc" button to exit menus....because we all know that these are the issues that will make a player throw the keyboard or controller on the ground and make them demand their money back. I'm really at the point at where I really don't know what else to do but ask for my money back. Edited November 30, 2011 by EachBraveEye
pottman
They pull this every time, and every time we forgive them. That's why this is happening.
Megaman1221
I just want to confirm because there was a rumor on the beth forums that you could fix some of the patch issues by re installing or configuring cache, but these do not seem to work. I guess we hold our breath for 1.3.
voldoman
LMAO @ Bethesda. This is beyond sad and pathetic now. This patch is literally breaking the game for nearly everyone, and from what I've read still doesn't fix our black screen. Time to email Bethesda about that refund. They're still too busy counting the money, I don't think they care at this point.
