Brosephus
Pretty much what the title says. One of the most widely used(if not THE most widely used)weapons before the rise of gunpowder and projectile weapons is missing from Skyrim. It's a bit unfortunate - a real missed opportunity by Bethesda. There are a few spear mods out there. But they are all unpolished to one degree or another. The spears in Immersive Weapons use two-handed axe animations. Spears by Soolie(as awesome an effort as it is) is hard to get working properly - and even then the first person animation use vanilla sword swings. So if someone could make a spear mod(Easy, I know) or(More likely)update/fix/polish up Spears by Soolie, I think we may be able to take advantage of this missed opportunity. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/62609/ Spears by Soolie V2, anyone? michael199310
There's a small mod that adds spear animations and it works with Immersive Weapons. But I think it just replaces 2H sword animations, which is a bit of a shame.I'm still wondering why there are no spears in Skyrim. I would say they're more popular weapon type than maces! I guess it's the balance issue, as there are 3 1H and 3 2H weapon types, but still...
Veritas427
Part of it is that first person animations are downright impossible to change in Creation Engine. Of you want to see third person animations in first person, use Immersive First Person View from the Nexus. Skyrim is made in a poop engine. A lot of the things modders wish they could do can't be done because of the limitations. Spears by Soolie is a great mod and you have to remember spears were also used in slashing motions, as the tips were able to slash and stab. Yes the animation is vanilla, but consider this; if you were to change the one handed swing for spears, it would change the one handed swing for swords, daggers, war axes, and maces as well. Brosephus
Well, maybe something will change when Skyrim Remastered comes out using the fallout 4 engine.

Deleted36051215User
Umm...I am not a modder, so I know nothing about the animation and stuff, but I THINK I can provide a might-be explanation on the topic that why there is no spear in the game. First we will have to take a look at the horses. If you bought in an ordinary horse at the stables, you can see that all stables horses are not equipped with stirrups. Which means that the saddle is Rome - Gaul style. In Roman times, when stirrups didn't yet exist, saddles have "bumps" at the corners to hold the position of the thigh when riding. So we see that the game, riders, ride mostly slowly and will have to fight off their horses. On the other hand, precisely because war horse can not play, so in Skyrim, long thrusting weapon used against cavalry are not needed. And dealing with the enemies with the kind of the saddle they are on, long-handled ax or two-handed will be enough. Just my own opinion, though.
