Stargazer09
And I can't figure out why. At the moment it's at 55 and dropping. It's inhabited by the original inhabitants and the only new settler I sent there was Jezebel. There's sufficient food, water and anyway it's connected to my network of supply lines. Only 2 beds, but then robots don't need beds (nor food nor water apparently).Defence is at about 47.Any ideas what could be the issue?
cossayos
greygarden shouldn't need food or water in the first place, if there are only robots. But I noticed the same, happiness keeps decreasing without any obvious reason.
CiderMuffin
It's probably a bug or something. Pay close attention to the happiness meter for awhile because I've noticed that the pip-boy workshop tab and the map tend to not be 100% accurate. RattleAndGrind
I have this condition on four settlements, and have had it for quite a while. One is at 15, one at 12, one at 33 and one at 57. Every settlement has 30+ food, water and beds and defense at 200+. Every settlement has a level 3 Bar and Grill, 2 dogs and a dozen cats. Still, nothing I do will raise the happiness of these settlements. The real head-scratcher is that when I visit these settlements, the arrow next to the settlement happiness value is always pointing up, indicating that the happiness is going up. But that's a lie. I even went so far as to issue the console command setav 129157 90 on one of the settlement Workshops. It raised the happiness of the settlement to 78 (not 90?). But the happiness value slowly dropped back to 12 in the course of a couple days. I also got a pop-up warning me that the settlement was unhappy and that if I didn't do something, I would lose control of the settlement. At some point, I quit caring. Nothing I did helped, and the happiness never dropped to zero (but I would be interested to see what happens if it does). Jezebel is a particularly unpleasant robot so I am surprised happiness is even 5% higher with "her" there.

My understanding is that the "visitation" happiness only took effect if you slept there for a 8 to 12 hours.. Nice to know that just passing through will raise happiness. bobofudd
If you ask a vendor "How are things?", they will tell you if there's a problem but it's usually an obvious one you can figure out. Check for synths and path problems too as those are a little harder to figure out but have an impact on the overall happiness. Sometimes happiness will start going down if you haven't visited the settlement in a long time. Just showing up will cause it to return to it's normal level and actually sleeping there for a while will raise it slightly. One of the harder things to figure out is when a settlement is threatened by nearby enemy camps. An npc will usually address this by coming to you and giving you a quest to clear out the camp but I've had a few times where I didn't get a quest but some of the settlers would make random comments about something bothering them. I have this same problem with Graygarden where most of my settlements stay in the 80% range while that one drops to low 70-60% range. I haven't been able to figure out why yet. I have downloaded a mod which highlights "synth infiltrators" in blue. I have one at most settlements and a synth Brahmin at another. It's hard to know what, if anything, to do about them as the Institute is a smoking crater so they can't be relaying information to anyone. The happiness at the settlements is in the mid to high 80's so I must be keeping them happy.

I usually don't install mods that give me such an advantage since I'm already at superhero status level but I had absolutely no idea that a brahmin could be a synth. I usually can tell settlers are just by targeting them through VATS and looking at their resistance. If they have an energy resistance of 10 that can't be accounted for by their gear, then they are synths. But I've never bothered to target the brahmin. 900 hrs into the game and I'm still learning new things. I know exactly which brahmin I need to go check now. All the synths I have found so far (only one) I sent to Hangman's Alley. I won't kill them but am interested to see what happens when they all discover they're living in a synth colony. I've encountered a few glitches too. I have found other settlers with the unexplained energy resistance before but after checking them multiple time just to be sure, their stats and level would change on me.
