I'm looking for a console command to set quest stages, and a way to find quest ID's and stage numbers. My game has bugged and I'm stuck on the quest "Regain Winterhold Hold" and I need to advance it to the next stage. I know we could do this in oblivion, but I haven't seen the command listed here or a resource for quest ID's yet.

For people asking for any kind of hex IDs: Use the console "help" command:

Syntax: help string filter (0-4, 0=all, 1=commands/scripts, 2=settings, 3=global variables, 4=other)

If the string has spaces, use double quotes to enclose it. Use Page Down and Page Up to scroll through the results. When you find what you're looking for, you can enter console commands on any page of the results.

Examples:

help blisterwort 4

result: Look for entries with the INGR tag

help "soul siphon" 4

The PERK entry shows the id for the "Soul Siphon" perk

One caveat: Some IDs may not register through this command if you haven't been to the associated city. During one playthrough, I visited Windhelm, used the help command, and found the CELL id "WindhelmExterior01", which I was later able to teleport to using the coc command. In a different playthrough where I didn't visit that city, the help command didn't show that CELL id.

Warning - this should be added to the top by a mod

Using the console (even by accident) will label you a cheater on Steam and all your achievements will not be recorded. So if you are into that Steam stuff, then you have been warned.

Thanks for the codes again. I have already been stuck twice, and was thankful that this is the old gamebyro engine so the codes still work.

This must be new.. I was so used to the console from Oblivion that I was playing with it right away when I got the game. I noticed that some Steam achievements unlocked (from level 1 to level 5 and 10 in just a second).. this really sucked. I mean, I don't care about these achievements for Skyrim, but could that 'cheater' status compromise my beloved Counter Strike in any way?

Will update...

...qests.

Showracemenu - Displays the character creation menu so that you can adjust look, sex, race, name, at any time. No longer screws up your stats so can use without penalty.

TMM - Turns off ...

When you change the race of your character it resets all skills to the race specific numbers.. meaning all achieved skills get lost, but it reserves the current skill progress (the progress bar under the skill number).. correct me, if I am mistaken

I'd love to know how to get rid of the dead bodies. I keep tripping over dead wolves on my way back to town. I'm in the console, clicking on the wolf and typing disable and no-go. Hrmph. But it does work on trees and other objects.

ETA: The problem seems to be that the NPCs are not selectable when clicking on them in console. They are click-throughable. I was getting a ID, but that turns out to be the ID of the ground UNDER the NPC.

I do not know how to get the NPCs ID.

Update: figured it out, with some testing. The problem was that I cannot click on the corpse AFTER it's been looted, but if I click on a wolf before gathering wolf pelt, no problem, disable and it disappears.

So, just a heads up.
