Skyrim First Impression

In the beginning it felt like a disappointment, the UI, the graphics, the lack of attributes, zodiac signs and a couple of my fav skills. I was ready to play it just for the storyline.

Then it got better, I love the crafting and other stuff that may will fun to do when RP'ing, I also really like the way towns are now much more alive. After playing it for around 8 hours I must say that it's good.

If the moding community will work hard, maybe after around a year it will be an truly amazing game. I mean, Oblivion is awesome with FCOM and a couple of other mods. And I can already tell that Skyrim is much better vanilla then oblivion is.

How can people call this boring?

Give it some f***ing time. The first two hours were quite boring for me, find myself in a tower of dissapointment.

To later on catch up on the main story. Killing the first dragon caught me. Seeing the first unscripted dragon in a village also got me very attached .

Give it some time, and do not say it's a boring game when it's only been released for 2 day thus far.

It's such a wide game sooner or later you'll be satisfied somehow.

Might as well be Bethesda best game so far, will keep you guys updated after another 24 hours playing.

I like it so far, can't wait until we have a working nifskope and blender nif scripts for this game!

One thing i don't like, however, is just how ugly the elves are in this game. I'm used to playing games where the elves are far more attractive than the human races, so it's just a shock seeing the elves look a bit like aliens. (Male and female)

At least we can fix that with mods though, eventually!

My first impression of Skyrim is awesome. The size of its content is overwhelming. To me the guide book which is over 500 pages is a must to completely immerse yourself in the game. Without it you will be missing out on a lot of content and most likely be lost in some areas of the game. The game has crashed on me a few times so I am sure there are some bugs to be ironed out and a patch is most likely forthcoming. I have played this game now for at least 18 hours and haven't even started to put a dent in the content. The Elder Scrolls Oblivion is a small fry compared to Skyrim. I will be suprised if Skyrimit is not voted Game of the Year..

I think I will be getting the guide too, but after I've explored on my own for a bit I'd like to get it on PDF and use my soon to be Nook Tablet to use it. I had Oblivion's revised and extended version. Skyrim's looks just as huge without any expansion content. A searchable e-version should come in handy.

Ya my first impressions are mainly frustration at a terrible ui system the interface absolutely sucks for pc users and it gets worse from there. If Skyrim turns into as great a game as Morrowind or Oblivion it will be because the modders totally revamped the entire game from the ground up.

I'm still a bit reserved on this game. I am disappointed, not terribly. I'm not happy about having been forced to go to Steam and all that, but found no way around it. I spent $60 on this game and don't like having to go to a third party to activate...nuff said on that one. More then anything, I'm vastly disappointed with the character customization. Also the human models should / could have been much better considering the caliber of this game. Why can't these people make a decent human mesh? But many have said this already.

I'm only into this game about eight hours and only now have learned most of the interface, although I still can't seem to make any hot keys work. The mouse is also slow to react, in my second fight with a dragon I simply could not get anything to move as fast as it should. To add to this, even in non-combat, sometimes the mouse just kinda did it's own thing, have no clue why. The audio sometimes gets 'crackly' or distorted, but not always. Being a former broadcast engineer, it seems the sound is over modulated, or too hot. Before anyone asks, I am running a fairly new system and it is quite capable.

That being said...visually speaking, this is a beautiful game...human models aside. I am on 'ultra' settings and it is a delight to see. They (Bethesda) may not be able to make good human meshes, but the environment is wonderful. I have noticed some texture drift on occasion, and some flickering. Love the music and so far, the voice overs are very good and I am enjoying that aspect. The story is starting to suck me in, but not quite there yet. But this game has not made me just stay with it and play. Many of you may have started playing and just stuck with it, but that hasn't happened to me. Witcher2 sucked me right in and all I wanted to do was play it, so far this one hasn't had that appeal yet.

But, disappointment aside..I'll stick with it and get through it. At least it isn't like the DA2 debacle last march, I am starting to enjoy it. If nothing else I'll just wonder around with my 'dumpster' warrior and explore LOL!.

I'm amazed that anyone could call this game boring. The questing is a lot more interesting than most of Oblivion and a good chunk of Morrowind as well. Visually it's fantastic, even for a console port. I don't think the complaints about the UI being too slow or clunky hold an ounce of water. Sure, if all you want to do is point and click like you're used to, then it's slow. If you use the keys to navigate it's fast and efficient. I love the UI. If anything it's 100 times better than anything in Oblivion or Morrowind. Im also really enjoying the spells system and couldn't care less that the majority of stats are gone. I love the voice acting and the culture and the look of the world around you really feels real. I never had that feeling in Oblivion without mods, and the environment in Morrowind only had that "real" feel to it about half the time.

The only complaint for me is that the ini takes a bit of tweaking to get everything working out just as it should. (both graphically and UI wise) This should be made much easier for people who don't know how to tweak the ini or don't even know that it can be done to improve their game quite significantly in some respects. Otherwise this is a superb game. It easily surpasses Morrowind in almost every way. (save for the main story, but Im only saying this because I haven't completed that portion of the game yet. I fully expect the main story to be great too)

Loving it. Took me a few hours to get accustomed to the console to pc controls but once you get the hang of it, works great. Inventory system in terms of finding stuff is 100x better than oblivion
