Chaoswind
Small problem -- when I did the above, Data Files finally worked. But when I check off "Load Loose Files" and press okay, it gets unselected the next time I click Data Files. If I check it off and run the game, it clearly hasn't worked. Is there an ini value to make it load loose files? I have the same issue here. super thanks as that did the trick :)
nonsense16
I had tried everything you guys described, it wouldn't work. Still greyed out. Then I tried this and it is the solution! YOU HAVE TO PUT [Launcher]bEnableFileSelection=1 ON TOP OF THE INI FILE!! Hope that helps. I THANK YOU FRIEND,it worked like a charm :)

rabbit42
if it didn't work for you adding those lines to your ini, try adding them to the start of the file and not the end/middle, that finally got mine working :D
huntsman2310
It greyed for me when we installed the Nexus mod manager. Probably. Because the ini files were deleted.
Wickedcircle
I want to thanks all people on this topic... ,i been :wallbash: for while now making it works, heh. so thanks that was a big help  the most important thing is to make the thing works ,add the [Launcher]bEnableFileSelection=1 on the top in the SkyrimPrefs.ini file at C:\Users\XXXX\Documents\My Games\Skyrim . Which makes all the different , so the computer will read this before it reading anything else... I'm using windows 7 32bits for those wonder :P

Sunnie
Don't worry about that setting, it's superfluous. Skyrim will automatically load any assets it finds in the correct data/path folders as overides.
Robtheroy
I've tried with both the manager and manually to get any mods to work with no luck. Edited February 5, 2012 by Robtheroy
