A Quality World Map, and ADEC Nocturnal Robe Replacer are the two mods I've tried to install. Their files are being written to my games mesh and texture files. Nothing shows up when I play the game. Updated through steam.

Thanks

I had tried everything you guys described, it wouldn't work. Still greyed out.

Then I tried this and it is the solution!

YOU HAVE TO PUT

[Launcher]

bEnableFileSelection=1

ON TOP OF THE INI FILE!! Hope that helps.

Man I wish I could buy you a drink.

I'm having the same issue. Someone said to go into SkyrimPrefs.ini and add:

[Launcher]

bEnableFileSelection=1

but mine already has that, and the data files option is still grayed out :(

Adding that fixed it for me. I heard that if you don't have any mods installed that it will be grayed out by default.

If you are still having troubles with the Data Files thing, i just figured out you don't have to change the SkyrimPrefs.ini that's in the game folder, but the one that's in C:\Users\****\Documents\My Games\Skyrim. This ini didn't have the line that you suggested, adding it fixed the problem

i did this and it still is greyed out. any solutions?

I got the data files thing to work but when i run skyrim and when i get to the menu the screen is red and when i load it, it just stops?

Try adding the following lines to Skyrim.ini (the one in your "My Documents\My Games\Skyrim" folder:

[interface]
rUIMistMenu_AmbientZPosRGB=255,255,255
rUIMistMenu_AmbientZNegRGB=255,255,255
rUIMistMenu_AmbientYPosRGB=255,255,255
rUIMistMenu_AmbientYNegRGB=255,255,255
rUIMistMenu_AmbientXPosRGB=255,255,255
rUIMistMenu_AmbientXNegRGB=255,255,255
