Vagrant0
The mod in question would be a Daedric plane, specifically that of Meridia. This is a mod I started thinking about doing awhile back, starting solo, but that fell apart. This time instead of starting with a huge city using mostly new meshes, I've decided to take a different approach. Do some of the other regions instead, ones which could be done mostly with existing meshes. With each section built around a color and a premise. The order the sectons would be made would be initially determined by a sort of testbed for new mechanics introduced in that area, then expanded upon in later areas. This way, while the difficult stuff for a future area is being figured out, work on an existing area can be finished and released with fewer complications. Not much is known about the Daedra, so as long as I worked around the standpoint of living energies, natural cycles, and the such, there shouldn't be too many problems. If it turns out that something isn't that way later, oh well. Some of the freedom with an obscurred Daedra can actually make things a bit easier, and more open to artistic touch. Initially there would however be no unifying quest, nor any daedra to visit, your main purpose for being in the realm would really just stem from you finding a doorway. Introduceion of a quest, or some unifying element would likely be added later, once most of the areas are completed. As I had envisioned then, all the NPCs would be designed to respawn, and there would be few guards outside the main city. This would allow for the player to explore these areas freely without too much concern about their actions. The first step: I'd be starting with The Black Pit, which would be a town built around and over a giant chasm. The pit serves as the prison of the plane. Here captured necromancers dangle over an abyss, and some of the more shady (no pun intended) enhabitants of the plane have taken up residence. The pit itself would feature a seemingly endless chain of caves and mines which spiral downward along the walls. As a prison, this is where the player would be sent if they had committed a crime within the plane, and be forced to work it off in the mines, or killing off any undead (and escaped necromancers) which may exist in those parts. Exchanging pieces to a shrine for forgiveness. The effect of an endless pit would be possible by setting up a few main interior spaces with a large vertical shaft, then branching off that shaft into caves and other things which would wind their way down. The shafts and caves would be designed so that the order they link to eachother is changed every few days. The passage up would be done by activating a marker along the route down which would bring you back up, then send you back where you were. Naturally, the first stretch would be static, but could lead to any of the other chains. Much of this could be controlled by using a quest script and individually scripted doors. I'd like to also have some in-theme armors and creatures for each of the colors, but those things could probably be added near the end. The main goal of the town would be to act as a place to sell, to give some context, and provide unfamiliar sorroundings. Any thieves, murderers, and quests would be bonus. I'm currently just working on finding skilled people who are interested, and want to help with refining things. I can't actually begin work on the project till around mid December due to time issues. I have however begun setting up a forum for people to start adding their input and ideas about the project. http://z2.invisionfree.com/DarkGenesis/index.php?act=idxMore information can be found there. We currently need pretty much anyone with decent modding skills, texturing skills, or a good handle of lore. Work load can range from something as small as laying out an interior to preparing the worldspace, AI, or other elements. We could also use someone willing to provide some file hosting so that team members can get all the resources that would be needed for this project. I plan to have a workable base .esm package done before christmas. I will be taking a mostly administratve role for this project so that I can focus on making sure everything fits together well. I will however be doing some meshing and scripting for those things which aren't comonly available. I would prefer to keep this thread open for project updates or future recruitment attempts. If you are interested in joining, please message me here, or at the forums linked above (and in my signature). If you just want to play the mod, or argue about something contained within, you'll simply have to wait till its released. If you have a valid concern, you can probably leave a message at those forums, but at this time there really isn't anything setup for non-team members. **The spelling of Colored is subject to change depending on how much interest there is in changing the spelling to Coloured.**
Vagrant0
Just a quick update since the thread has dropped back a few pages and some progress with the mod has been made. The first initial esm has been put together with some of the initial resources and the first worldspace for the mod. We are currently in the process of making all the town interiors and giving life to this dark little corner of the realm. http://209.85.48.8/252/133/upload/p2047090.jpgWhile I think we might have enough worldbuilders for the time being, we could still use some help in other areas. The project could use some additional artistic work, people who are good with new signs and insignias. We could also use some people reasonably familiar with basic scripting and AI to help assist with creating NPCs and setting up packages. Naturally, just because we aren't in need of more people doing interiors at this point doesn't mean that we may not need some more in the future. I want this mod to be on par with a professional expansion, so the more people involved, just with working out the details and making it look good the better. Vagrant0
Another update. Work is progressing nicely. We have most of the interior and exterior retextures done, and are currently building and populating the interior spaces of the town. Given the number of buildings some additional world builders could be useful to speed up the process and get a wider range of characters. If you have any experience in making interiors or setting up NPCs, we could probably use your help. We could also use the help of anyone familiar with scripting, or model building, just so that things can continue to run smoothly and I can focus on some of the larger upcoming parts of the project. Models would however be along the lines of statues, weapons, and armor. We could also still use someone to provide web hosting and creation of a website. Although we have forums, they don't allow for much of a portal for people who aren't working on the project to see what it is all about. The website would ideally allow all the information about the project to be gathered in one spot for ease of reading, and provide space for screenshots and downloads. If you are interested in helping out, please message me here or at the forums Here.

wizardmirth
Not sure I like the name, but I'll be damned if this doesn't look like it's going to be amazing.
Vagrant0
http://209.85.48.8/252/133/upload/p2052843.jpgFinally made an update to the mod, not too much has been done due to real life issues, but those are to be expected with any sort of mod project. The latest version includes some more interiors and several custom resources for the mod. As usual, we can always use more people to help make this mod a reality. Without a team of capable people, this mod may never get finished or released for public view. You don't need to know much, just have some decent CS skills and a willingness to learn and work with others. We do however still need people who are fairly good scripters to help write quests and other features within the mod. You will however have to prove yourself a capable scripter before given anything significant. We also need someone to setup and run a website which will provide a one stop, simple location for people to see what is happening in the project without having to browse the forum. We await your visit. *edit* Forgot to mention that we are also looking for some people willing to write a number of ingame books for use in this mod. No modding skill required, just need to be literate and willing to keep things consistant with the world.
NewtC
Nice job on the retextured trolls. I have recently joined the new forum.
Vagrant0
Your assistance will be appreciated. It seems that some of our members have had difficulties in life, and won't be able to do any work for the mod. This means that we are in great need of anyone who is capable of doing basic CS work (cluttering interions, laying out areas, landscaping). If you are looking to get into modding, and don't know where to start, or how exactly to do some neat things, this may be your chance to be part of something great. The more people who offer their help, the sooner this mod can become a reality.
