how to merge plugins using fo4edit

You will need a copy of the latest FO4Edit, and a plugin for it. It is Merged Plugins, I don't have a link, off hand, for it. This, however, is the definitive video on how to merge mods. You want to use merged mods, not bashed mods. There is a difference. I will say for more information of all of it, you will have to do some looking, check out Gopher on YouTube, as well as Dirty Weasel Media. I do recommend using Mod Organizer over NMM, for a variety of reasons. You will want the latest Mod Organizer, which is 2 alpha 7, I believe. Mod Organizer, prior to 2, will not work with Fallout 4. Once you merge, you don't have to have the original .esp's running to use it. I like to merge mods, but I am not at the limit, and if I do, I try to move mods around, on purpose, to get them close together, and merge away. Did you know, that as long as you have just textures and meshes in a mod, you can have as many as you want? It's the .esm and .esp that is limited.

In FO4Edit you create the merged plugin.

1. Make sure that the mads you want to merge are active.

2. Start FO4Edit. Right click on the mods window that first comes up. Scroll to select "none".

3. Now click on only the mods you want to merge. Hit okay. Wait to finish loading.

4. Go to LAST plugin to merge.

5. Right click that esp. Go down to "Create Merged plug in". And give the merge a name.

6 Close and save the merged patch.

7. Now deactivate all the esp's you put in the merged patch and activate the merged patch.

8. Now launch game and have fun.

Hope this helps.

Merged Plugins is a nice tool but its not working for Fallout 4 for me. Game wont show up in dropdown menu.

That is because Fallout 4 is not supported yet. And the author doesn't know when it will be.

It does work though. I merged my 2 mods with it.

had to copy the entire script folder, not just the subfolder.

item in the top level needed to be there.

There are two merge plugins'. One of them is standalone (fo4 not supported), and one of them is a script for xedit (which is outdated).

You can use the script tho, to make basic merges. Just make sure that when you run the script that it runs with no errors, and you should be fine (if there are things like leveled lists you'll probably have a problem). Also make sure you don't have any plugins that are dependent on mods you are merging.

I think there's still a tutorial vid out there for the script via skyrim, but it should clue you in on how to use it well enough to get by with simple merges for fo4.

I use it all the time. I'm currently running 386 mods on 158 plugins, so it works.
