Thoreai
I just do not understand why so many people are whining and griping! Skyrim is only FOUR days old and everyone is complaining about Horse animations, no first person horse riding, no horse combat, the jumping animations are bad, the textures look like crap, there are texture bugs, the walking animations are terrible, the towns aren't that great, the females don't look like hot anime chicks, no instead they look like hardened women in one of the most harshest areas in Tamriel, NPC's have blocky looking faces; I mean really people? Really? Please just enjoy it and not look at every little thing that you think is a "flaw". There is a reason that this game is moddable. Rant ended. -Elsarian No wonder Bethesda became lazy...after reading something like this, why would they even bother to make some ui and fix things..."look they are happy even with this!" This is not about being happy and all but about quality...the game is fun certainly but if im buying a PC game i expect to have it some pc game standards like the ui for example. You say people are whining about everything..surely some things are overreactions but this is also bethesdas fault for hyping the game to heavens, so im not surprised some people are pissed. They havent done any QA testing on this...and just becouse you are happy with it dossent mean we all have to be...if we dont point the flaws and lazyness of bethesda they wont bother to do anything properly...and if this means we are whining, then let it be so...but please realize you are whining about others whining...same deal. Your accusations of lazy are pretty poorly thought out. I would be lying if I didnt say it bothered me when individuals like you and others make these kinds of statements. Many at the studio have spent many nights, weekends and holidays working to try to bring you the best game we could within the time we had. All this we did of our own accord without any extra compensation and we did it with the fans in mind. Sure were not perfect, but being called lazy is just plain insulting. We take great pride in our work and we do listen to fans quite a bit. Dont be so quick to judge us so harshly, we do what we can for you guys, unfortunately you cant please everyone. Also, bear in mind this game is made for millions of people. What some of you may like others may not and vice versa. Take it easy my friends You guys have done a wonderful job with this game. I am astounded at it. I enjoy every single minute of firing up Skyrim and playing it for hours on end. One of the most well done games that I have ever played. And hands down the best open world RPG that I have ever played. Thank you for the hard work that has been put into it. Also, the complaints can't even scratch the surface, or hinder my experience at all. Thank you so much. Thank you guys for being fans and supporting us. Believe me when I say we really appreciate all the fans, even the more critical ones Thank you for taking the time to come here and clear some things up...i appreciate it greatly. Take it easy my friends While I am greatly enjoying the game, I can understand some of the people being critical with the game's flaws (which it does have). And no offense intended, but merely saying "We worked hard on weekends and holidays with no extra compensation" during a past-deadline-due-project would not fly at my work place. As much as that statement is appreciated, you guys aren't doing this for charity. You're being payed, and your salary depends on the purchases of the consumers. And your goal is to please the customer, or else everyone is out of a job. And I assume the people that are working hard such as working on weekends are doing this to finish their objectives on time. Now as I'm sure many people, as well as you are aware of, when I am given a project, I have to finish everything by the deadline. It doesn't matter if I have to stay up 4 nights in a row to finish the task given to me. The boss only cares about the end product, not how much hours I spend agonizing over it. I am not payed extra for whatever extra hours I spend at the office, I only get paid when the customer signs the check. So if you were to say "We didn't spend extra hours to finish the game on time", that's what I would call irresponsible. Saying "We spend countless extra hours at the office" is just doing your job properly. Now people criticsizing the UI, I understand and I could even see it, from the customer's perspective, as being "lazy". They're not looking at how many hours you guys spend, they're looking at the final product which they've bought to see if it meets the promised objectives. And from what a lot of people are standing, a decent UI is seen as a basic thing. Bioware said more or less the same thing with Dragon Age 2, which many people loathed. While I can see they gave themselves way to short of a development time, at the end of the day, it doesn't matter how many extra hours they spent at the office. The bottom line is, a lot of people were pissed off with the product they bought. But at the end of day, I'm personally very pleased with what Bethesda has done. IMHO, Skyrim will easily be GOTY material. Edited November 15, 2011 by shiftyoliver
FoolyFooly
PC Gamers sure do have a high opinion of their importance. The PC sales for Skyrim pale in comparison to Console pre-orders, and those people are who the game was designed for. The sense of entitlement floating around this thread is hilarious, as if Bethesda owes you something. The only people griping are the die-hard RPG gamers of yesteryear who jumped into a game designed for Console fans expecting another Morrowind. Be happy that they are still actively supporting the PC market and the modding community, I can name the PC games with a toolset on one hand. And spare me the "people who are content with the product are encouraging their lazyness" bulls***, because that's exactly what it is. Your complaining isn't going to accomplish anything, anymore than my optimisim will. Edited November 15, 2011 by FoolyFooly

IMHO, Skyrim will easily be GOTY material. I understand what you are saying but our situation is a little different. The fact of the matter is that we put in a monumental extra effort not only to finish this game but to add many things that were not even slated and planned to be in. The result is a game packed with content and things that were only possible due to the commitment of the team. So while I agree with your point, in our case finishing the game on time is only part of the project. Believe me when I tell you that the greatest game are a success because of the additional love put in by the team behind it. Making games is unlike a lot of other fields Your metric does apply to the base expectations but ultimately thats not what we put in the extra effort for, but rather a bunch of additional things that would not be in otherwise. As far as doing it for charity, yes you are right but the game industry is far more demanding on personal and family lives than many other fields, so bear that in mind. Also, while the game is not perfect, just as there are people that dont like something, there are many that do. PC Gamers sure do have a high opinion of their importance. Your complaining isn't going to accomplish anything, anymore than my optimisim will. I definitely think the fans are entitled to like or dislike any aspect, but anyone who thinks a game is released by lazy devs with the thought that the mod community will "fix it" is very mistaken. The mod community reaches a fraction of the audience, so Im pretty sure there isnt any studio that relies on modders to fix anything. I think modders do a fantastic job of making the game more to there own liking which honestly is not going to be liked by everyone either.

I also happen to be the individual who created them ;) My wife is the one to thank though for supporting me and putting up with the crazy hours! If you did that 180 any faster you'd have whiplash.I stand by what i said, the ui is bad, though i have been harsh with the "lazy" part wich i admitted and apologized...the problem is you probably understood it as im speaking about the whole game being bad.And spear me the "they dont own you anything" attitude...thanks. If you would have trolled any faster, you probably would have slaped yourself. Edited November 15, 2011 by pavy
RejectedCamel
Compared to Oblivion, Skyrim's animations are great, but they're still rather bad compared to almost every RPG out there right now. really? what do u mean bad? not style or super cool? should i have to swing my 100kg daedric great sword like stick to look awesome? i've played a lot of RPGs but none will make the player swing great sword like it really should except dao:origin and skyrim, and the female walk is SO female , i love watching those feminine characters walk about ,so elegant they are! although i have to admit the jump part is a bit awkward...The idle animations are wooden, especially for dual sword wielding and the spin-attack. Female characters shouldn't walk li they're top models - it's a gritty, barren region where the people are gruff and tough. Females look more like skinnier men without beards, as it should be, so it's sort of ridiculous that they walk as if they were posing for the Black Horse Courier's painters. ;_; Don't get me wrong, most of the animations are good, and overall the game is a huge step up from Oblivion, but there's some awkward animations which simply break the immersion, throw it onto the floor and crush its broken remains with a steamroller the size of Uriel Septim's forehead. I can hardly watch my sister play simply because of the walking animation, but then again, most of the crowd is male, and they play as male. (Well, the first time anyway) My only real disappointment was after a finishing move, where you would blink back into the stand position instantly. There was no smooth transition at this part, which I wish there was.Another thing, is the walking. I love the smoothness of running when changing directions, as it smoothly rolls into the different direction, however the walking was simply 8 directional movement.
