Kind of Sad - a Thank You can go a long ways.

While I haven't received donations yet, I do try to keep in touch with people who contact me or write comments on my mods and thank them. I only have four mods, none of them terribly famous, and I still struggle to manage personal contact with everyone. For people who have done this for years, have a whole bunch of mods to keep track of and plenty of people contacting them I'm sure it's much harder if not actually impossible.

Also remember that not everyone is comfortable talking about money. While American cultural values generally make it okay, talking directly about financial considerations is actually quite impolite in some parts of the world (usually the more British ones and for an older generation). The idea of giving someone special treatment for giving money can actually seem impolite if you don't equally thank someone for just kind thoughts and well-wishes.

Hey modders, I love the mods you have created. Your work is wonderful and makes the games a lot more fun.

But know this, I do now sent you a couple of bucks to buy your friendship. What's that profession again? You know. The one where you pay for friendship. Oh... yeah. Do you measure yourselves that way? Do you think my couple of buck is my way of soliciting you? Or do you just believe us mod users to be beneath you, undeserving of your gratitude and that we can be treated with contempt?

I send you a couple of bucks so you know I appreciate your efforts and want to see more. Now, I do not expect bands and flowers but even my overworked and underpaid waiter says thank you for a gratuity. I expect no less from you when I part with my hard earned bucks to show my approval of your work.

And yes, I am annoyed. Do you not realize how your apparent lack or gratitude makes you look. Have you ever heard the words elitist, snobs or ingrates? Imagine that. You act ungrateful and we think you are ungrateful. Don't act ungrateful, and we won't think you are ungrateful.

Grow some humanity.

Now, for a practical matter. Send your thank you notes from an un-monitored email account. No need to see the circle of emails you have whined about. Or will that cut into your time too much?

You only speak for yourself. I cannot know whether a donor would even want me to email them, I know I would not want that.

Further, up until very recently thanking donors on the mod pages was against the no solicitation rule at worst, and dancing over the line at best, which is another reason I and others chose to not do it.

Next time you jump to conclusions "grow some humanity" and don't automatically assume the very worst of other people.

Hey @BigBizKit, did I use any plural pronouns? You know what those are right? Or are you reading yourself into something when I certainly did not write you in.

As for my "Grow Some Humanity" comment, it was addressed to a specific collection of modders who feel it is beneath them to display good courtesy. I do not know you and up until now, we have had no dealings. So I will ask you to butt out. My comments were not address to you and were not about you.

Hey @BigBizKit, did I use any plural pronouns? You know what those are right?

I do, I am not so sure about you though.

Hey modders, I love the mods you have created. Your work is wonderful and makes the games a lot more fun.

But know this, I do now sent you a couple of bucks to buy your friendship. [...] Do you measure yourselves that way?

"you"/"your" are plural pronouns in context e.g. if the proper noun of reference comes in the plural. For instance, if someone leads in by addressing a group with a plural. Basically, exactly what you did. Confusing, I know.

There can be no confusion over the plural quality of the pronoun "yourselves" though.

So, to answer your question "did I use any plural pronouns?": yes, plenty.

Further, if your (singular) intent was to address a particular group of modders, leading into your (singular) little rant with a generic "hey modders" is plenty misleading. Naturally, I did not take this as a complaint against myself specifically. Therefore, I provided you (singular) with some insight about the reasoning behind some modders not thanking you (singular) for donations other than them lacking courtesy or humanity.

"Hey Modders"

Literacy and reading comprehension are dead. Please read carefully. Modder is a noun, not a pronoun. Modders is a plural noun, not a plural pronoun. Shaking my head and crying for the uneducated and illiterate people that our education systems are producing. And just so there is no confusion, those are condescending, rude and elitist comments. Just wanted you to know that I can flatter you by imitating you.

> be an ungrateful, spoiled elitist mod creator

> be the target of a comment regarding your rude and discourteous behavior

> take "Plural Pronouns" from its context

> focus on that phrase which is out of context in an attempt to deflect the rest of the comments

> prove my point about some modders (in this case, just you [a singular pronoun]) being snobbish, condescending, elitist and rude

yes<

Expecting a minimum level of courtesy from people I have given my money to is not being a entitled "C". Neither does refusing to accept rude behavior from rose buds render me a entitled "C".

Now, please explain the pathology which makes discounting users, treating users as less than human and behaving as though users are undeserving of courtesy and respect is acceptable in your universe?

Very good. You (a singular pronoun in this usage) have proven that anything can be proven if you (a singular pronoun in this usage) take things out of context.

@BigBizKit (instead of the singular pronoun 'you') said "You only speak for yourself." Show me a "we" (a plural pronoun) or "us" (another plural pronoun) and you (a singular pronoun in this usage) may have a legitimate point. But I (a singular pronoun) guess the fact that my (a singular pronoun) comment were addressed to "Modders" (NOT a pronoun, but a plural noun representing a group) which was subsequently represented by plural pronouns (you and your) is wasted on you (a singular pronoun in this usage).

I know these (a plural pronoun) concepts are confusing. But that is what happens when you (a singular pronoun in this usage) take words and phrases from their (a plural pronoun) context and I (a singular pronoun) have to put those (another pesky plural pronoun) words and comments back into context.

Now it might be they had a bad day?

I am starting to donate to Mod Creators of specific mods that I feel are worth the $$ to me, in that I would like to see more of "this" or "that" kind of Mods.

Both were over $10.00 and I will leave it at that and no, it was not $11.00

But in neither case did I get a "Thanks!" - "Thank You!" or "Why did you do this, this mod is not worth that .. but Thanks!"

But sadly neither of them have taken the time. It's been over 1 week to 1.5 weeks with both. Sadly I will not be donating to them again.

The Strange thing is - both Mod's Desc. Page encourage "ENDORSE, it means a lot and keeps me motivated and if you want to share of few pennies / dimes, I will not say, "no" to those either."

The above is paraphrased, so as to the avoid "Fall Out".

Now maybe I just gave to the wrong the Mod Creators?

Some people are assholes.
