Mod Plugin Limit and Stackable Mods

Like most I've been playing since FO4 popped and also like many I, from time to time, ok, DAILY check for new or updated mods. I have tried to keep them to certain groups, PA - decorating - settlement improvement etc.. Well i hit 255 in my NMM and the numbers went red on me so I backed it down and thought I'd come here to ask some questions.

 

First question I have is; "Is there a mod plugin limit? i.e. 255 plugins allowed or different number?

 

Second question; "Is it normal to have multi-level mods that can be activated only when another in your list is temporarily de-activated?"

 

Example; I de-activate DLC Master plugin and Cages and SKE become available in the slot. Also have Movable Power Armor available in the same slot if I activate it instead of DLC Master.

 

Personally I'd like to be able to add more main files to the bar to alleviate this issue but don't know how.

1. 255 is an engine limit.

2. unless you have 2 mods doing the exact same thing, no.

 

What you have here is a clear case of menu conflicts. Forums and mod threads are full of solutions to it, and it's mainly using the necessary patches.
