gann1981
hi, ppl.so...i'm not a guru on TES modding...so, i have a quastion of some sort. I'm trying to change model of elven greatsword to just a elven sword. i'm thinking the world model is in "elvensword.nif" file and the "in-hands" model is in "1stpersonelvensword.nif" file. Renaming file "elvensword.nif" to "elvengreatsword.nif" changes the world model without issues. But renaming “1stpersonelvensword.nif" file does not do the trick because of animation and other stuff in that file...the sword itself become a normal sword and it also become invisible...so i just need to find any string or model with "normal sword" address and change it in "greatsword" file so my "new" normal sword will appear in my hands and on my back like greatsword...right?! ^^ So...how can i edit .nif file?! Any suggestions? ps. dont hit me hard plz.pps. i want to create a mod that changes all greatsword models to onehanded swords of theirs type. in future...resize all "toobig" weapons like twohanded axes and hummers to smaller and realistic size. gann1981
nice...i made it.First step in my future mod...i was able to full replace(with proper meshes, textures and models) "elven greatsword" with "elven onehanded sword". But it has some issue - the new model is short-onenaded right...but animation for big-greatswords are too slow for my short one...any suggestion on how to increase the animation speed of greatswords/ two-handed weapons swing? ps. the thing is...so i made a "new" short version of twohanded weapons type, but to level it to a new, "short" status of twohanded weapons i must increase it swing speed, right. edit:so...the animation is in .hkx files and i found a two-handed weap. anim files. how can i edit those? Antagonistic
If you are interested in the technical side, here is the nifscope forum detailing throttlekitty's work on decoding the .nif format. http://niftools.sourceforge.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=3164 If you or anyone else reading this is technically competent, I'm sure aid in it would not be turned away :P
