NSCReaver
So I became a vampire the other day, slowly, aware that there would be benefits and risks. Didn't care much to know exactly what those were, but was initially happy to see that I wasn't melting in the sun, and that my sneaking was a bit better. Then, walking through Whiterun on some quest, I got the message that everyone was going to attack me, because I hadn't fed yet. Went through several issues getting that blood, including more than a few dead citizens, a couple guards, and a lot of sneaking around Whiterun in my loincloth. The blacksmith shop has been locked up ever since. My question is this: Was there some kind of warning I missed that explicitly said, "Everyone will try and murder you on sight when you go too long without blood."? Because I surely didn't see it, although it's entirely plausible that I missed it, as I figured something like that would be more obvious.

Vampires go through stages, As you do not feast on blood you become stronger, but people will notice what you are. And while you stay at stage 1 you get a few bonuses but not the full set. Dont quote me on this i vaguely remember reading some thing along the lines of what i just said on the skyrim wiki

NSCReaver
The whole "not burning in the sun" thing is more of a matter of convenience, I'd say. It'd be piling on the difficulty of being a vampire - you're already weak to fire and have regular confrontations with fire-breathing dragons, and need to feed every few days or risk becoming the community punching bag. To add burning in the sun to that would mean never going outside during the day, and most people aren't out at night, including a lot of quest-givers who live behind locked doors. But I still don't see why I had to find out the hard way that I'd become said punching bag.
Jacina
If you look at your character, the longer you don't feed the more obviously vampire-like he becomes, thus ending with towns attacking poor li'l you

PsYchotic666Joker
well i play on master and it's easy, the whole vampire thing would seem easy still even with dragons, but not all are fire based, iv killed frost ones too...come to think about it...they need vampire clans back just like morrowind. oblivion's vampire system sucked
SHIROryuu
You get warning messages. Before and after you become a vampire. There are 4 stages. At level 1 you don't regenerate stamina in sunlight and by level 4 you get the warning message "You've become a full vampire and people will attack you on sight" At this stage it's hard to feed. You'll have to unequip you armor, use invisibility power. I suggest finding Stormcloaks or Imperial army camps. You can sneak up on them and feed off the sleeping soldiers. In the end it wasn't worth the effort. Became a werewolf to cure it and never looked back. It does have it's benefits though. Night vision as well as added stats. BlackCompany
Well, this answers that question. 'That question' being, namely, did Bethesda move their Status Check/Update for vampire feeding from the Menumode to the Gamemode portion of the script. Seems like they caught that one this time round. Nice to know its fixed and working properly. I thought about becoming a Vampire. but it didn't really fit the rugged, wilderness themes of Skyrim as well as it did the suburban, metropolitan feel of Cyrodiil. Fortunately, they have Werewolves. They fit just fine for a Nord warrior returned home from a hard life as a mercenary only to find out his fighting is far from done....
