mcgreggd
I was thinking about buying skyrim because i loved oblivion and morrowind but i stopped playing them because oblivion was so unstable. It would crash to the desktop randomly without any error messages, sometimes it wouldn't do it for days and other times it would crash multiple times within a 3 hour gaming session. I tried many, many things to stop the random crashes, even bought a whole new computer and i was able to run oblivion on high settings with around 30-60 fps but it would still do the same random crashes. I got so tired of it that i gave up on the game, it was just annoying and bored me to death having to deal with all the crashing. So yea my question is, can i expect the same from Skyrim? Barlas
In my experience, yes. I have yet to have any crashes at all.
Ghogiel
Yes. It's easily Bethesdas most stable game

Pushkatu
Well, the CTDs are not gone, but overral the game is much more stable than Oblivion, at least as far I'm concerned. It has it's flaws, ups and downs, but so far there's nothing a pacth can't fix and since the game has been released only a couple of days ago, I'm pretty sure they'll fix most of the bugs. I haven't so far experienced multiple CTDs(like I did in Oblivion) in one place. You should buy the game, I mean it's the best of it's kind and there's mods to. dikr
1 CTD in around 50 hours. Also it runs like a charm without hickups or stuttering. Definite improvement coming from Oblivion, especially if you consider the more varied and complex visual effects. *Amazed at the engine*
dartanian
It was only crashing for me due to dual screening , ATI 2600 xt hd, yes i know its a billion years old, But it does not seem to support duel screens well
Vagrant0
50+ hours in. I did notice some rendering and display issues if you're playing the game for several (8+) hours at a time, mostly water which is invisible in that cell, or textures which aren't loading. So occasional breaks are suggested. Have crashed maybe 3 times in total, usually during longer sessions twice when sheathing my weapon after killing something, once when entering a new area. But, I only have 4gb of RAM installed, running a dual monitor, usually have Firefox and a IM service running on the other monitor, so most of this makes sense. But the good news is that there are 3 auto-save slots which get updated regularly so when you crash you lose maybe at most, 10 minutes of playtime in some dungeon. jedimembrain
Ive had two crashes in 46hrs of play ... both were after long long looong play sessions and most likely my PC .. This seems to be the most stable bethesda game ever made. Aside from a few quest bugs begging for a fix...
Vatras
I had 3 CTDs in about 40 hours without any message, the game simply went out; two times after hours of play, once after 10 minutes in. Still, that is not too bad. I found a few bugs, but not many:- part of the river below the two towers was missing- I got stuck in rocks once, when trying to ambush giants at one of their camps (had to reload an older save, as I could neither kill them, nor fast travel with the aggro)- I saw two places where the rocks have a gap between their lower border and the ground below, same as in Fallout in a few spots I did not find a quest bug yet, and those above may kill the immersion, but not the game.
