What does that have to do with the fact that a bunch of people shitposted on the forum where there ARE moderators with the ability to regulate it?

 

This isn't a thread about how objectively bad Jive as a platform is or how dumb it is that the forum moderation team (of which there are many) has no authority on the mods site, so can we please just not?

I cannot respond to you the way i would like so brb heading to one of your bethesda.flunkie mod pages so I can harass you to my hearts content.

 

Those moderators with the ability to regulate it btw do it TERRIBLY, even inside their own ruleset which is a massive boon to anyone breaking the law, IE stealing etc. This is probably due to them moderating multiple sites for free in a lot of cases as they are volunteers as well (Got this info direct from one in a PM)

 

I finally after 3 weeks was able to actually delete my mods from their site instead of just hiding them as that feature was broke as well. I really will not understand why anyone with a little self respect will actually mod for bethesda stuff anymore, I sure don't have a lot of it and I quit this crapshoot so meh. To each his own.

 

 

Maybe because, you know, people make mods for the community (or themselves) and not Bethesda. That, and not everyone like yourself goes out of their way to hate on people simply because they own a console and would rather get their hard work get into the hands of as many people that want to use it. If someone wishes to upload their mods here and Bnet, who cares. Does it hurt your feelings or something? I have to agree with Arthmoor here. Any time your name comes up, it's pure negativity. Nothing positive. As he said, you made it clear you don't like Bethesda. So instead of whining about it, stop buying their games and stop making mods for them. It's really that simple.

I would agree with you, but at the same time look at this thread. Look at any site, forums etc that has a topic on this Nvidia Contest. The majority is MA's and they're attacking one another like a bunch of console "kiddes". So is our community really that much better when we're doing the same thing they do about a different topic? I upload my mods to Bnet because I want my friends to be able to play them they don't own or can't afford a gaming PC. If comments on the internet about your mods or MA's in general annoy or anger you so much, just delete them. Or just don't respond. It's the internet, people are going to be rude, entitled, full of s*** etc. Why waste the energy of getting upset? It makes no sense to me.

Instead of wasting your time and energy hating on useless stuff you'll get no results from, why don't you use that time instead to make more mods, or even your own game or something? Edit: Also, in a sense, every MA is Bethesda's unpaid whores. We keep their game alive and relevant. Tons of people are still playing F3, Skyrim, Oblivion, hell even Morrowind. Simply because of mods. Which we're essentially making Bethesda more money for anyone who opts in to PC gaming. First thing I did when I switching to PC gaming was buy Skyrim, Fallout 3 and New Vegas. For the sole purpose of playing with mods to make a complete new experience, despite buying those games on consoles. And I'm sure I'm not the only one who's done that. And it will continue to happen because it's a ton of free content that MANY games never get.

That's awesome. Seriously, not being sarcastic or anything. I wish you the best of luck. I'm fairly new to modding, so I've always viewed as a stepping stone to game development. You gotta start somewhere right? Personal fulfillment is worth it though. You learn, you get better and maybe come across the right person and land yourself a job. Let's be honest, no one wants the end goal to be spending hundreds of hours on a mod hoping someone will hit that donation button and give you a few bucks. We'd all love to do this and get paid. Hell, we all deal with horrible crap at our real jobs and most of the time get nothing from it but a crappy paycheck. Just part of life. But at least with modding you can give yourself an opportunity to possibly get your foot in the door. Especially with how big social media is nowadays.

I think it's a good learning step but honestly it's a terrible portfolio piece on its own. My plan was always to head my own company for it, so for those with the means and the perseverance to do the actual annoying work (I.E. Management lol) it should be a good start. And for those who do it for fun/hobby I am hoping some company comes along that doesn't treat them like dog s#*! and supports them, or hell if I get big enough I'll do that as well for them. Imagine what ppl like that salty ma would do for a company that treated him like a human considering what he does for Bethesda now. ;)

Just because I'm not out in public making an utter fool of myself on Youtube with rant videos doesn't mean I haven't leveled my fair share of criticism at those who deserve it. I prefer to take a more productive approach to arriving at acceptable solutions. The old you catch more flies with honey thing. Or something.

The rant he's referring to is on display for all to see and I have not deviated from my opinion of that company since the debacle took place. So much so I've been voting with my wallet and getting as many of my games off their corrupt systems as possible.

 

As for what that "salty MA" is doing for Bethesda, I can assure you, I wouldn't be doing it if I didn't enjoy their games.

 

Regardless of the animosity between us though, I do sincerely wish you well on your UE4 endeavors. It honestly sounds to me like you were ready to make that transition like so many of us elsewhere have done over the last few years. Even if you don't' think what you're cooking up is all that good, it's still valuable learning experience you can take forward to your next project after it.

My plan was always to head my own company for it, so for those with the means and the perseverance to do the actual annoying work (I.E. Management lol) it should be a good start. And for those who do it for fun/hobby I am hoping some company comes along that doesn't treat them like dog s*** and supports them, or hell if I get big enough I'll do that as well for them. Imagine what ppl like that salty ma would do for a company that treated him like a human considering what he does for Bethesda now. :wink:

 

 

Fair point, but you never know. Something someone makes could fall into the hands of the right person and it could land them a job. You never know. Even if it's low position, you just need your foot in the door to be able to show companies what you can really do. You have a great idea, and the right attitude about it. So I don't want to take away from that, but I can tell you from experience that's how big companies are. I was a general manger for a multi-million dollar company and you're literally their puppet. They don't care about you, your life, or anything aside from you making them money. They just want you to shut up and do what they say, even if it's wrong or illegal. And in my case, I didn't support that and it got me fired lol

 

Not to say every company is like that, but I'm fairly certain the majority are. Bethesda portrays themselves as more of a family than a company. That could be true, or it might just be like the company that I worked for where Pete Hines is just their puppet. Although, I met him during my time as a game journalist (Skyrim was coming out) and he's actually a really cool guy. But hey, who knows. But there's some things we could change, but others we have no control over. Just gotta deal with it, or ignore it.
