DDProductions83
Not all of us are cynical, hateful, spiteful individuals like you. You don't like Bethesda. That's very clear. You've made it abundantly so now for months. You even said you were going to go Indie and leave all this behind for good. So.... why haven't you yet? You seem drawn to these topics for no good reason since you clearly don't want to be involved. As for why those of us with actual self respect still mod for their games? Maybe because we still enjoy them despite the flaws? Nobody has ever said they were perfect, but you don't solve their imperfections by posting profane rant videos about the company either. Some are instead snobby, apologist, smarmy double talking piles of crap. Like you. Since we are labeling people here, even though it's not the bethesda comment section. I still have plenty of friends in the community, and plenty of people link these threads nonstop, oh friends, those people who you stand up for and stuff and stand by and don't lie about behind their backs, just a FYI cause you probably didn't know what that word meant and stuff. You also do not solve their imperfections by apologizing for them every step of the way no matter what they do, they could put a hit out on your family and carry through and you would still be like "Give them time they don't get everything right the first time etc etc pandering blah blah BS" Give me a break. I want the guy who posted this back Anyway off to star trek woooooo, have fun, and T9, if that were true then a lot of MA's would commit suicide because the community, now as a majority because we added in the console kiddies, is toxic and more vitriolic than I am. They mod for themsleves, and that can be fulfilled through a lot of different creative means other than subjecting themselves to being bethesdas unpaid whores. I would agree with you, but at the same time look at this thread. Look at any site, forums etc that has a topic on this Nvidia Contest. The majority is MA's and they're attacking one another like a bunch of console "kiddes". So is our community really that much better when we're doing the same thing they do about a different topic? I upload my mods to Bnet because I want my friends to be able to play them they don't own or can't afford a gaming PC. If comments on the internet about your mods or MA's in general annoy or anger you so much, just delete them. Or just don't respond. It's the internet, people are going to be rude, entitled, full of s*** etc. Why waste the energy of getting upset? It makes no sense to me. You've made a ton of mods (some of which I use and are really good) so you clearly know what you're doing. Instead of wasting your time and energy hating on useless stuff you'll get no results from, why don't you use that time instead to make more mods, or even your own game or something? You don't like Bnet or Bethesda, we get it. Buy why pry on something when it's not going to change anything? Edit: Also, in a sense, every MA is Bethesda's unpaid whores. We keep their game alive and relevant. Tons of people are still playing F3, Skyrim, Oblivion, hell even Morrowind. Simply because of mods. Which we're essentially making Bethesda more money for anyone who opts in to PC gaming. First thing I did when I switching to PC gaming was buy Skyrim, Fallout 3 and New Vegas. For the sole purpose of playing with mods to make a complete new experience, despite buying those games on consoles. And I'm sure I'm not the only one who's done that. And it will continue to happen because it's a ton of free content that MANY games never get.Eh I can't disagree with most of that. And I have moved on to making my own game. I hope I succeed if only to show people they have a option and don't have to be subjected to the obscene treatment they get now with almost no return besides personal fulfillmentAlso hi Dante. We summoned thee That's awesome. Seriously, not being sarcastic or anything. I wish you the best of luck. I'm fairly new to modding, so I've always viewed as a stepping stone to game development. You gotta start somewhere right? Personal fulfillment is worth it though. You learn, you get better and maybe come across the right person and land yourself a job. Let's be honest, no one wants the end goal to be spending hundreds of hours on a mod hoping someone will hit that donation button and give you a few bucks. We'd all love to do this and get paid. Hell, we all deal with horrible crap at our real jobs and most of the time get nothing from it but a crappy paycheck. Just part of life. But at least with modding you can give yourself an opportunity to possibly get your foot in the door. Especially with how big social media is nowadays.I think it's a good learning step but honestly it's a terrible portfolio piece on its own. My plan was always to head my own company for it, so for those with the means and the perseverance to do the actual annoying work (I.E. Management lol) it should be a good start. And for those who do it for fun/hobby I am hoping some company comes along that doesn't treat them like dog s*** and supports them, or hell if I get big enough I'll do that as well for them. Imagine what ppl like that salty ma would do for a company that treated him like a human considering what he does for Bethesda now. Fair point, but you never know. Something someone makes could fall into the hands of the right person and it could land them a job. You never know. Even if it's low position, you just need your foot in the door to be able to show companies what you can really do. You have a great idea, and the right attitude about it. So I don't want to take away from that, but I can tell you from experience that's how big companies are. I was a general manger for a multi-million dollar company and you're literally their puppet. They don't care about you, your life, or anything aside from you making them money. They just want you to shut up and do what they say, even if it's wrong or illegal. And in my case, I didn't support that and it got me fired lol Not to say every company is like that, but I'm fairly certain the majority are. Bethesda portrays themselves as more of a family than a company. That could be true, or it might just be like the company that I worked for where Pete Hines is just their puppet. Although, I met him during my time as a game journalist (Skyrim was coming out) and he's actually a really cool guy. But hey, who knows. But there's some things we could change, but others we have no control over. Just gotta deal with it, or ignore it.Ya I find that approach appalling honestly. Even though I do know that's how most are run. I do not run mine that way and my wife's business is not in any way run that way. You can be successful and rich without treating your workers or even super fans IE modders like s#*!. We do it everyday and both our parents have way more successful businesses and treat everyone they do business with with respect. But people are willing to take it like bitches so they get away with it and it just disgusts me.

We do it everyday and both our parents have way more successful businesses and treat everyone they do business with with respect. But people are willing to take it like bitches so they get away with it and it just disgusts me. I'd love to work for a company that did that, it's a shame they're so far and few. The company I managed started that way, then rich Wallstreet assholes came in and it went to s#*!. Even though you probably disagree, I still think Bethesda has our best interest at heart (Like I said, I met and chatted with Pete along with quite a few other Bethesda employee's and they're all really nice people) but they're also expanding into an extremely large community where they can't please everyone. Before it was just PC gamers with mods. Now they have console players (Which I personally think is great for the industry). But of course it comes with backlash. Which I honestly think they expected, but didn't expect it to the reach the level it has. So now they're stuck between the community that's supported and made mods for the games for years, and their new modding community. But at the same time you have a split between those PC MAs. I think Bethesda's biggest problem is they're so slow with everything and lack of communication. Obviously there's higher ups in place that won't allow certain things to happen or be said, but I think they could do a better job. A perfect example is the whole PS4 mod thing. Not a single word since the delay. I simple "Hey, we're still working it, but it's taking time" would be really appreciated from that specific community. Same thing with this contest. I mean, GStaff did say they're in touch, and I even reached out on Twitter and got the same response, but the contest ends Sunday and no further statement has been given. And it's a shame because like I said on the last page, MA's are now attacking each other because Bethesda (Even though it's not their contest) and Nvidia are staying quite on the whole situation. And ya I agree. That's why I will tend to only ever work for myself and have since mid 20's with few exceptions. It honestly depends on the motive for a business. There's a reason my father in law is handing it down to us and not selling his off for a bit more than it's worth. There's also a reason I will work for that man. But ya, honor and integrity are hard to find in larger corporations which is pathetic because you don't have to be scum to succeed but many tend to go that way. Mostly it is the people to blame as we support them with our wallets and time

GeneralLuBu
I really will not understand why anyone with a little self respect will actually mod for bethesda stuff anymore. I'm inclined to agree with this statement. If you used the CK as a stepping stone and are now familiar with it, the winds are blowing and it's time to raise the sails. This contest has pretty much shown what we are thought of as a community these days. I am new to the CK, and the scene when I was invited into the beta. My eyes are fresh and my time proxy loyalties are absent. So objectively. Sorry. But this is an awful way to treat a group of slaves who basically make up ~25% of the allure a Bethesda game has. If you mod for yourself, I get it. If you're doing it in a never ending quest for validation from formless entities then you're in the right place. Any other reason has become null.
