Adrius2
I see it more underground thingie than something that belongs to a game selling millions of copies. Underground hahaaha... you underestimate just how widespread and accepted homosexuality is I think. More choices for more people, I see it is as a good thing in a game that is all about freedom. If it really bothers you you should make a mod request, maybe silence those audio-files or something. This isn't a big deal at all, in fact I haven't even gotten "hit on" by any men so far at all, I don't even see where you find all these horny men, or maybe your character is just particularly homoerotic in his appearance. Vagrant0
If you aren't gay, why are you showing your amulet to Mara to other men? The interesting part is really how all this progressed. From subtle hints of homosexual characters in Oblivion, to a mincing Orc blacksmith in Shivering isles, to a mostly honest portrayal in New Vegas... To an open and equal acceptance in Skyrim. I think the real issue here is not what it is, but rather how there is no limitation on it. All the people you can marry with a male character you can marry with a female character, with no disqualification for the NPCs preferences. It's something that just feels out of place compared to the real world. People just don't like this sort of ambiguity in the characters they interact with. But, the genius of it is that when you really get down to it, it doesn't matter. Does the fact that Yorloff the Skull Crusher is making moves on some guy that helped him really do any sort of disservice to Yorloff and his skull crushing? Aren't most homosexual people in the world generally just like anyone else and not particularly characterized by their preferences? Even when you have inconsistencies between playthroughs, how is it different from any other inconsistencies? Regardless, you can always just tell them you're not interested... Just like real life. 4dvz
Ghogiel, we (the humanity) are not yet in the point were the majority of people really accepts homosexuality nor wants to see it in their computer screens.
seanxx
4dvz, whats this " back then " you are talking about? First Skyrim is definitively not "back then", its on its one separate time track. Also if you want to use our own history as evidence that fails because homosexuality was pretty open in ancient greece and roman times, with the advent of the christian faith it went somewhat underground (or inside).Someone also mentioned racism towards khajits as evidence that homosexuality would not be accepted in skyrim society, i dont see what that really has to to with it, racism and homophobia are different. anyway as many people have statedwalking around taking to strangers while wearing magical love charm - what did you think was going to happen??? take it off and all will be well. Adrius2
@4dvz: Where do you get that argument from? I personally doubt that a majority of humanity is homophobic, or even slightly bothered by this. And even if we were, it certainly isn't a reason for Bethesda to not include homosexuality in their game, in face I applaud the decision, especially how they didn't make a big deal out of it all. Gabbemaster
Ghogiel, we (the humanity) are not yet in the point were the majority of people really accepts homosexuality nor wants to see it in their computer screens. And that is why many of us get a little bit offended by your opinions. Bethesda is taking a very clear side here, and that is good news to me, since it helps change the world from being a hating one to being a world of rightful acceptance of everyone regardles of who they prefer kissing. Vagrant0
Ghogiel, we (the humanity) are not yet in the point were the majority of people really accepts homosexuality nor wants to see it in their computer screens.Except that's the thing. Short of homophobes who respond to this sort of thing with "axe in the face" and other forms of hatred. Most of us who are, you know, functional in reality have come to accept that people of differing interests exist and that these differences don't mean that person is bad. On my playthrough, it was first surprise, then awkward silence, then rejection... Same with how it usually is in real life, regardless your gender or the gender of the person asking. That's kinda what makes the game 'real' that emotional (even if destructive and ignorant) response isn't something that can really be forced on a player. 4dvz
It seems that most of the people who has answered into this thread are against my argument, and I really really really don`t want to make this thread an debate of homosexuality in general. Nor want to make any comments that people consider offensive, so maybe it`s better for me to rest my case here. I know when to back off, I said how I feel about it and encountered heavy resistance so I will go no further. :) Edited November 19, 2011 by 4dvz

Adrius2
I say it's best for you to go make a mod request. The good thing about these games are that they can be tailored to pretty much anyone's taste with the help of mods.
