chryckan
I tried google this but couldn't find any definitive answer. Yet when browsing mods for fallout NV a lot of them seemed to reference fallout 3 mods. So I'm wondering are fallout 3 mods interchangeable with fallout nv mods? That is you can use fallout 3 mods with new vegas and/or some fallout NV mods need a fallout 3 mod to work?
Ethreon
No. You need to port it and sometimes that is easy, sometimes it's a lot of work. The reference is most likely to the similar F3 mod that the author made and then ported over.
JaYmZeE311074
Or you could check out TTW.... that'll be a "Tale of Two Wastelands"
Ethreon
TTW mods undergo the same process, they just have a better process for it.
chryckan
Just wondering cause a lot of outfit and armor mods for NV refer to type3 body but the only mod for that body I could find was for fallout 3. So it's a bit confusing trying figure out what mods other mods require when so far I can only find some mods for one game and some for the other. Lisnpuppy
You can use the textures and meshes from the type 3 in F3 as a replacer in your game by adding it manually to your files. It won't have an ESP and will overwrite your current female textures so I advise backing up the folder before you add it. This will allow to use Type 3 things in your FNV. Just remember there are several types of Type 3 body and you will need to decide which one you want. good luck

sykoholic001
>>>So to make the new armours and outfits work in New Vegas I need to manually add the textures from the type 3 body mod for fallout 3?<<< Yes. FO3 and FNV use the same file formats for textures and meshes (.dds for textures, .nif for meshes). Simply re-name the FO3 files with the same name that FNV uses (for instance: upperbodyfemale.dds and upperbodyfemale.nif) then manually place them into the appropriate FNV game folder. As note by Lisnpuppy, there are several versions of the TYPE3 body (Skinny, Alice, Berry, Cali, etc) and the armors/clothes will not fit all of them properly. For instance, Alice has a small bust (Alice = A-Cup) but comparatively wide hips. As such, most vanilla and/or Type3 armors will fit her top (and make her look like Cali (C-Cup)) but her hips will clip thru the sides of the pants. At least that the experience I have had. YMMV.
