An_Omen
Can you load Oblivion using OBSE without wearing out the CD? Yes I genuinely have a copy of the game (if I had a camera I would take a photo of me holding it and then send you my passport to prove it was me!) so don't shout at me for even hinting on the topic of game cracks or noCD stuff cos yes that's illegal and for real gamers...go buy the disc! After all who doesn't want their gaming room adourned with shelves of their prized possessions...games complete with box and fancy artwork!?! So rant aside (because I know some topics are not allowed on forums) I use OBSE to load my game but don't know anything about making ISO's or the like to mount in DAEMON tools so I can put my disc in it's box without having to take it in and out five times a day between my work and evening game sessions. Is there a way? Sorry for the rant, I just want to enjoy my purchased game for years to come, not just for a few months and then find nasty scratches all over it which has happened to me before. LFact
'Don't know anything about making game disc image.....' it's not so hard, once you learned how to. And I don't think they put any copy-protection. Search for ISO making tools from google. Maybe good old DVD Decrypter would be handy(and there're more). **Since you have the disc, you can make one (only)for your personal use.
An_Omen
Thanks for the suggestion. My problem isn't how to make an image of the game, I've done that already but as I use OBSE loader to play the game and not the Oblivion.exe which I made into an ISO, the OBSE dependant Mods I use obviously won't work. What files would I need to add to the ISO to ensure the game loads with the OBSE loader instead of the original Oblivion.exe?

You should use virtual ODD device like Daemon tools, then install from that. Well, it's not the point. Did you try with oblivion.bat?
buddah
Easy way, make a folder on your desktop titled junkgo into my computer and select the drive you have the dvd in, right click on drive, select open, then click on file (top of the screen) click on select all, then under file and folder tasks, select copy and copy to the file on your desk top. Put a blank dvd into your burner, open the folder on your desktop, hit file, then select all, then copy to your burner. You now have an exact copy of the dvd for oblivion, put the original in a safe place and delete the folder from your desktop. Making a copy for someone else is against the law and the eula from bethesda, but you are allowed to make a copy for your personal use. Just go into mycomputer/c/programfiles/bethesdasoftworks/oblivion find the obse loader and right click create shortcut, it will appear at the bottom of the screen, then just drag to your desktop. All done, now you can launch from your desktop.
malonn
You could get a no CD patch. If you bought the game, you bought the game. A no CD patch just makes things easier. Plus, you don't have to get extra software that you may never use otherwise. I know, it promotes using cracks, but one person not using it won't make a difference. An_Omen
Ok, I've made an ISO using MagicISO and did this by copying all the files on my Oblivion DVD to a file on my computer.I now want to mount this ISO and have done in Daemon tools. The problem now is obvliously it's loading the Oblivion launcher which isn't what I want. How can I direct the obse files to look at the mounted ISO (on a virtual drive) and load from there? It's sounds compicated but it really should be doable I think. On a completely different tangent, does anyone know of any texture and/or mesh resource out there that offer new files for modders to use? Kind of like a resource database I guess. Just thought I'd ask as my texture/modelling skills are purely average. Thanks

Thanks It doesn't matter what launcher you use if OBSE is installed then Windows considers it to be the parent process of Oblivion and launches it whenever Oblivion is launched.
