chriscowart
Parallax Mapping: Is it possible? It seems Bethesda scaled back some graphics features in favor of better performance (serious round of applause for them, the game runs amazing!), but they left out parallax occlusion mapping. Parallax mapping can add so much detail its insane. So... Is it possible to add this into Skyrim as it sits right now? Any way to edit the shaders to use other images in the dds containers as parallax maps? Here's some references if you don't know what I'm talking about:Video of Parallax Occlusion Mapping with Silhouettes in Crysis (don't mind the UV mapping errors on the edges)Article describing how parallax mapping in worked in Oblivion (short summary: 2 images in dds. stone_n[ormal].dds, stone_d[iffuse].dds; ParaMap stored in diffuse map alpha channel)
Ghogiel
If their parallax shader is POM and not scroll, then yeah, I am pretty sure it still exists. I have seen textures designated as parallax acording to their naming conventions, it might just be a case of enabling the shader flag... we don't really know yet. ishmaeltheforsaken
What's the difference between "POM" and "scroll"?
