Arantheal
Hey, sometimes I want a unique character or a special mod but unfortunately I can't find the char I'm searching for on the Nexus sites nor the mod I want. So here I need your help to creat me the mods or the char I like and I'll pay you for your work. I know Bethesda has forbidden to pay for mods but what if I pay for the mod creation and the mod will be free for all at the nexus page? Is this allowed? Does someone has experience with mod sponsoring? Is anyone interested?
JamesAfloat
This is an interesting idea. I don't think there's anything ethically wrong with paying for mod creation--it's basically patronage. Mod creators have an option to allow players to pay for content if they want--it just isn't part of the rather socialist do-it-because-we-love-it mentality in the modding scene. I think if you really want certain mods to be made, you should go to the Mod Request page, create a detailed pitch for your mod, and then say that you would be willing to donate to any creators who are interested in the project. Peace! James
zanity
Beth can't forbid anyone from receiving payment for the work they put into their mod. Beth can't even prohibit people selling mods for Fallout IN GENERAL. All Beth can do is prohibit people selling mods that contain Beth IP- and that's a very limited class of mod. As for 'sponsoring' a mod- well that's a PLAIN INSULT in general. Modders are not slaves. They are not 'illegals' prepared to work for well below the minimum wage. If a modder values their time when it is made COMMERCIAL (by you), then you couldn't afford what they should ask for in payment. No, here's what you do instead. make donations to existing mods you like and strike up a relationship with the modder. Try making suggestions IN CHARACTER with the existing mod and the skillset of the modder. Or post in the forums your 'great' ideas for mods and see if anyone bites. radiumskull
Lots of artists out on the web use donations thru Paypal or Patreon. They also do commission work, which AFAIC is what creating a mod for pay would amount to.
TeamBacon
It is not legal to get paid for work you do in the Creation Kit.
radiumskull
It is not legal to get paid for work you do in the Creation Kit. Not arguing, but do you know where in the CK TOS it specifies this?

I just asked if its possible and 'legal'. And it shouldn't sound like 'Do it, cause I paid you ... you're my slave now' I mean dude wtf??.Furthermore there are so much good mods in work currently and if I can help'em with a payment its great. In my opinion it honors their work and it honors the modder. But if I do the same for a special mod I want to have its bad ... only cause it wasnt the modders idea? Also the modder can accept it or not ... he dont have to!
Oubliette
It's technically not illegal - no one's going to go to jail for it. However it is against Nexus policy and if the PtB catch you soliciting modders to make something for you for a monetary reward you can risk your account here or at least a warning. He is offended by anything and everything and just wants to spread negativity. Nothing you said was offensive, so don't feel bad about his response. *I didn't read what he said though, I learned not to make that mistake a long time ago*
