I don't know, this topic keeps cropping up at every game board about every game. And all too many times the self proclaimed therapists keep creeping in, feeling a sense of superiority. I never once saw one of these topics where the discussion wasn't derailed sooner or later.

 

Well, let's get to the bottom of it all. We are all sexual creatures. It's in our nature and role playing certainly is a part of that - be it IRL or on a chatboard or in a game. Yes, there are sexual mods and I tend to use them. When it comes to body types, even as a heterosexual male, I install both the female and male variants. It feels more natural than having a figure in tighty whities or the Conan-style female in leather bikinis, once the armor comes off.

 

And yes, if there are sexual mods - as for the Fallout series - I tend to use them too. I want my character to have the possibility of being a rounded real life figure where romance and sex plays a part, rather than being just a twodimensional number crunching killing machine.

 

If I may play the role of therapist for a tick, let me say, that a killing children mod may give more reason for concern than any and all sexual content.

Yeah, maybe. I played a guy once or twice, but they always turned into some piece of crap I wanted to kill myself. I tend to be more forgiving with females.

I don't identify myself with my female characters, I don't identify myself with any male characters either, I just see them as kind of a movie character that I'm watching

 

And that could be another reason why we like to play different gender/sex. When I play Skyrim i consider my character to be me, he is my avatar in Nirn/Tamriel/Skyrim. I am the hero.

 

So there we go, now we each understand where the other is coming from, you feel that you are your character when you play, and I don't, I just feel like I'm watching my character play.

 

That explains why your couldn't understand how or why I could play a female character.

Well it all makes sense now. I thought it works the same for all of us, hence the misunderstanding.

 

One thing i still cant understand though: Why would anyone want their girl to run around like a hooker (referring to mods)?

I dont know, but it feels wrong to dress a character like a BDSM Domina without underwear and run around in Whiterun where people dont seem to notice and carry on telling me that they got an arrow in the knee.

Apart from that I didnt proclaim myself a therapist of some sorts, I have to admit that i find it very strange to dress/undress a player character like a screenshot straight from Youporn. Some people seem to have a strong overdose of hormones. That has nothing to do with superiority though.

And you know what greatly works towards derailing such topics? Comments like yours that imply others are feeling they're something better even though it was not said once before in any sentence, but instead they were just trying to understand. So in a sense you act like the therapist, claiming to be able to read something between the lines even when there is nothing to read.

 

You are very right though that a killing children mod is the much more troublesome, hence the reason why bethesda took so long to implement children in TES.

 

I also want to say that sexuality is something normal and no one has to find excuses for having an urge to see the other sex naked, but when i see some mods, especially the ones from japan, i have to say that it has a weird taste to it.

Maybe thats where im going wrong....i loathe the romance/sex elements to modern gaming.and companions

Agreed the 'child' approach to modding is a bit too dark for my tastes.I ignore the children in skyrim.....unless one says to me "im not scared of you", makes me laugh.

I find it more disturbing that people would want a modesty mod to cover up cleavage, and then beg for a child killing mod..... :geek:

I saw one request thread at the Official forums asking people what mods they would like and most posts were

one post scared me because it went

I, like you, use nude mods, both male and female, just because everybody IS naked under their clothes in real life too.

I don't use them for thrills, and honestly I have yet to see a naked character in my current game, because I don't even bother looting armor

because my character can make better armor than she can loot. (stupid overpowered Armorer Skill).

because Bethesda makes everything kind of blocky.

 

I use the better bodies mod for Morrowind, those are nudes as well, but look at the default Bodies and Faces in Morrowind....the NPCs and your Character look they were made in MineCraft.

So rather than run around with a Lego Character talking to Lego NPCs, I downloaded a nude mod to use in Morrowind that makes NPCs look like they are made out of Bones and Flesh.

 

I just don't understand why the longest and most controversial threads are about nudity, and not gratuitous violence and decapitations etc...

Same here, 48 going on 49. And let me tell you, that even the late 70ies and the 80ies offered enough real life opportunities to last a lifetime. But I'm using beauty mods also. But beauty is in the eye of the beholder. In my case it's natural looking people, not platin blonde silicon valley with botox dressing.

And again, I don't see anyone in this thread that gave you maturity lessons. Do what you feel like doing with/in your game.

Beauty mods are also something very cool. They fixed the vanilla skyrim faces that all looked mid 50 by default, even though someone wanted a 20ish old character.

If you are being told everywhere that nudity, sex are sick perverse things and should be hidden no wonder its like that, but noone understands that its the repression that made them that way...sexuality is part of us and instead of fighting it, we shouldaccept it.

 

This was discussed to dead in so many topics...some people can see it, while some will fight you to death...better not start this all over again...everyone should just mind their own buisness and it will be fine.
