jjb54
Well the Vault-Tec DLC, hit the current game I was playing to the point, that like w/the rest of the DLC's - I had to start over. Oh well ... it's just a game, right? So this time, I thought I would actually build the settlements that I wanted, housing and such wise. Figured, why not. I do not want to get to serious until the Nuka-World DLC comes out. So I am scrapping Sanctuary to the ground. Yup, all the houses are scrapped. I have two mods: Cement Walls and another that allows for Glass windows. This is seriously big time - time consuming. I found out that with the cement walls, I can have Double Pane Windows! Who would have thought? Will have it looking pretty good in the end, I hope. The thing that annoyed me a little was the serious holes in the roof and such ... so the new homes - NO HOLES! As much as it is very time consuming ... there is a slight enjoyment putting it all together from the ground up. I need to get the mod that KILLS the Sanctuary Hammering on the walls .. and an open Sandbox Mod that i just saw posted. As all houses will have two floors .... I'll post some pic's .. when I get done .... So how many of you leveled the ground and started building from the ground up, like I am? Did you find it fun - annoying - and what specific mods did you use that gave it that "personal touch"?
Stargazer09
What annoys me is that there is no option to repair walls and roofs of existing structures. I mean, if I can craft a fusion generator in the vanilla game, and construct intact concrete and steel buildings, why can't I repair holes in the roof and walls? robhartman9
i tried a couple of mods that fixed up sanctuary but it would be more fun to set it up from scratch. The stuff i have in sanctuary is a lot less polished than later builds. I learned a few tricks along the way like using a barn wall to snap to then a shack wall or a half barn wall to create different levels for concrete foundations like the spillways for my waterfalls.http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/279604015248482982/0C0C8537D84E25589A2388E842865BBA60853C60/

That is why I decided to "go here" ... and I did. I scrapped ALL the houses in Sanctuary and built new ones ... It was annoying, but it was also fun to do .. as I knew I was not going to get 'far' into the game as I am aware that Nuka-World is coming out, supposedly this month ( August ). crawe1x
I always level Sanctuary, apart from my character's old house (for role playing/sentimental reasons) and the one directly opposite where the workshop station is. The main mod I use is Spring Cleaning, obviously. Other key mods I use for settlement building / management are Don't Call Me Settler, Northland Diggers, DD Productions' mod that allows you to build almost infinitely, and a mod that allows you to increase the max number of settlers, which I normally set at around 50 max (+ Charisma). This is particularly useful for Sanctuary, which invariably ends up as my main settlement. I also use the mod that makes settlements quieter, another one that increases the range of power pylons so I don't have to worry so much about setting up electric cables inside high buildings (which I find very finicky), and probably a few others that I've forgotten. I don't think I have any mods that add extra building items - after all the workshop DLCs, we've already got a pretty decent selection. CiderMuffin
I never fully level a settlement, the already built areas help me when building new areas. I'll scrap a lot of junk but I usually keep vanilla houses that I can build in as I feel that's what people would do in the wasteland. Scrap every useless thing and live in the livable portions. Sanctuary's buildings also help with creating houses and buildings inbetween each other like. I still need to finish my Sanctuary but my plan is to build the street area as a heavily enclosed city with the open area by the river a huge farming area with animal pens and human and robot farmers. jjb54
I decided that this character will not live in Sanctuary, as it "hurts" too much. "That life is gone." But not willing to let go, he built up the RED ROCKET to be his "New Start". No settlers welcomed and I'm going to set up a "guest house" at the Entrance to Sanctuary, so they can be comfortable and protected.
