Txtairintxt
I played a girl in Oblivion and now a male in Skyrim, but I know what you mean. I guess.
Naikado2
The ideal "hero" characters in these games are usually warriors, and of them, usually male. Our dragonborn is technically a nord who runs around in iron armor, but I'm an argonian. It's just what most people seem to relate to and choose with these games, or probably just the idealistic image of what a "hero" is supposed to be. With the lore, women in the family aren't commonly mentioned because the ones that are the major important royalty are the males. Daughters existed- it's just that historians don't care about them. :P
Evilslay3r5
I don't know if she's mentioned in this thread, but Queen Potema was of the Septim bloodline and is featured in the game. OP is obviously some feminist or troll looking for an argument. The devs will ultimately make a game how THEY want. It is their game. If they wanted, they could have made the game nothing but male and that's their right. If you don't like something, then do not buy it.
BGatot
You guys are arguing about female dragonborn? I think Khajiit and Argonian dragonborn seem even more unusual and far afield of the lore. Did it ever happened in history? I can understand it happens in a human, they might be related to the septims, though very, very distantly so that they don't know about it. After all, the Septims, like many rich and powerful people, has been known to sleep around, so there must be quite a lot of people with their genetic material. Hell, Martin Septim was a bastard. However, Where do the Khajiit and Argonian got their dragonborn abilities? Unless it is just simply genetic mutations instead of a blessing from the divine? RenownedWolfman
Oh god why BGatot it was fallling asleep why couldn't you let it sleep!! :P nah i kid. Was it lore-canon that the person had to be a septim, was pretty sure they were just chosen, so "gods" could just choose to make a khajjit or argonian a dragonborn if they wanted to. Lol, it'd be funny if one of the mount breed (style, race etc.) khajiit was a dragonborn. Edited November 27, 2011 by RenownedWolfman
BGatot
Well, If I remember correctly in Oblivion it was elaborated that Martin Septim was a dragonborn because he has a Septim bloodline. And if it weren't for him there will be no one to light that fire thing and we're all doomed. If a dragonborn was just a rare genetic mutation that can happen to anybody, then they could just hold a contest, whoever can light the thing (I forgot what it's called) will be crowned Emperor, I'm sure they'll find someone who could soon. saintjimmyz
Ignoring the last 8 pages of this thread, I can give this answer to the OP: There are no women dragonborn heroes because all women are in the kitchen. :P In all honesty though, in a world like Tamriel most women would have been nothing more than wives and mothers. Thats not being sexist, thats a fact. The number of female adventurers/warriors/mages/heroes/women not in the kitchen is higher than you would expect from a fantasy-medieval (ish) world. BGatot
The Companion has many female members, so this clearly is not the case. It was like that back in Oblivion and Morrowind too. The link (in post #19) about Septim dynasty is very interesting. Don't seem to see any of them married a Khajiit or Argonian, though. There were one "Wolf Queen", but she wasn't actually a wolf. So who's Titus Mede II, and how he got his emperorship? Edited November 27, 2011 by BGatot

Titus mede the first took over the empire shortly after the start of the fourth era (through conquest), tidus mede II is his son who inherited it upon his father death, as i recall from the UESP. http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Fourth_Era Edited November 27, 2011 by RenownedWolfman
