HomicidalGrouse
I'm a total noob with modding, tbh. But I think most of us have some issues with the weapons in FO4 in general. A lot of them are ugly, or they don't fit the class they're supposed to be in (looking at you, "Assault Rifle") etc. So the question is, how hard would it be to completely replace a weapon like the AR throughout the entire game? For instance, if I wanted to completely remove every instance of the AR and replace it with the currently popular (and excellent) STG44... how would someone go about doing that? What kind of compications could arise from doing so? There are so many good weapons out there, and some of the vanilla weapons are just so bad. It would be nice to see some replacement mods. xgamer468
It wouldnt be too hard at all i think. However i cant agree with you on the part that most vanilla weapons are ugly. They fit very well in to the arts tyle of fallout, which most of the real life weapons simply dont. But yeah, your decision, it should be doable as far as i know
BlahBlahDEEBlahBlah
Replacing them seems to be (if you do, in fact, mean overwriting the models and textures entirely), so far, a hell of a lot less of a pain in the behind than adding new ones (even just retextures) with new stats and other such. Track down each and link to/instance of the old version, and adjust to the new model. Would *seem* straight forward enough. I'd say the longest part would be, most likely, creating new models/meshes. That takes a skill (that, personally, just isn't available). ...but then again, maybe I've taken the long way when I've done it, since I've kinda winged it on this. P.S. I'm ignoring a possible need for new animations if one were to get too wild with any new weapons.

Or would that not work? havent tried weapons myself yet but thats what id think could work. But yeah, if you dont have any nif files to replace the old ones with, then yes it will take a lot of work to make them. banadin412
There is a mod called Modern firearms (not on nexus) that adds a large number of guns (10 so far). If you removed the other weapons from drop list would do what you want. The mod had troubles with using models with out permission so is off nexus. The author seems to be re releasing it with out the stolen content. You could not remove the items only use the ones added by mod. (note the weapons added by mod are much stronger than the originals. garompaestomper
I have a question, mind if I step in here, that has not been answered anywhere. My plan was to make some resources so somebody can grab them and make a mod out of it. So...is there a tutorial in modeling and texturing for F4? cause I don't know which techniques it requires. I have used 3dsmax, but I dont know which file format to save it in...or how to texture it in a way that someone can use it in F4 easily.

TrickyVein
In November I think someone released a tool on the Nexus for making models and textures. All you have to do is type in what you want, hit a button, and it spits out diffuse, normal and spec maps in the right format and a .nif you can use. I forget the name of it, but it was really helpful for a lot of folks new to modeling and texturing for the game.
