darthsloth74
I figured this would be a relevent topic in which to post: I'm trying to edit a face paint texture, but when I save the texture, the image is darker than it should be and there are little white dots that show up. This makes the paint more transparent in game. I doubled the texture size and saved it as a dxt1 ARGB with 1-bit alpha, no mipmaps Have you got a mod installed that affects the game lighting in some way like FXAA Injector or ENB Enhanced Shaders? Also where are the facepaint textures located? So I can have a look at one and check.
chaveski
It's not that it gets changed when I load it ingame, but immediately after I save the .dds file. If I save it and reopen it, the white has become a grey tone. Facepaint textures are located in the textures.bsa. The path should be Data>Textures>actors>characters>character assets>facetints (I'm not on my home computer, otherwise I could give you the exact path. Busted11290
I save mine as palette ARGB 8 bpp | 256 colors + alpha so far no issues.
chaveski
I still get that problem, but I can photoshop out the weird white dots, which I assume are from compression, and increase the brightness and it seems to stick... Maybe I'll just have to stick with that
throttlekitty
White dots shouldn't come from compression. It sounds like something isn't working correctly, and i've seen issues with other users having problems with bad exports out of photoshop lately. Which version of Photoshop/dds plugin are you using? 32/64 bit? Maybe try cropping/whatever This image to 512x512 and saving as a DXT1, since you mentioned colors getting borked. chaveski
I'm on the 64 bit version. The rainbow picture looks ok when I save it and reopen it.
Corehound
Can you only use "Photoshop" to open the Skyrim textures? 'cause I basically get errors with the programs I've tried so far :( http://www.fallout3nexus.com/imageshare/images/1680733-1296223756.png

darthsloth74
Well considering what it says on the net DDS support is included in Paint.NET as default, so it should open them. I wouldn't know for sure since I use Photoshop.
